Since the first time I saw that scene I've been thinking about this: If Vanya's power is all about amplifying sound waves, her best weapon wouldn't be a bow. A bow is like a guitar pick, it can't vibrate or make music, the strings on the violin/guitar are the ones producing the sound. So strictly speaking, in this scene Vanya should have grabbed the violin by its neck and swingged it. Then the strings would have vibrated a bit because of the contact with the air during the swing and Vanya's power would have amplified that weak sound into that cutting blade of pure energy! But I guess, if you have to shoot a super-power series it is more important to have a beautiful shot than a physically accurate one!

For those of us band nerds or orchestra folks we worked to move up the section and earn a part not 3rd or especially second and some like myself were never able to rise far especially in high school as we didn’t chair test often and to be confronted with the what chair are you in or how long have you been there or in my unique case why don’t you have a spot in the marching show? And it was a gut punch. There is no sassy comeback from that.

KanDuyog118 it has to do with the part you play in music , first plays melodies , or if it’s not melody than the more challenging part often consisting of upper Octive notes, second plays the middle range notes normally harmonies that are necessary but don’t stand out in the music and are not much fun and third helps the bass line. In a high school or collage band there would tend room be several of each . The chair in which you sit indicates which part you will play in a piece of music . It’s also much like a badge of honor being in a higher chair rather than a lower chair as it indicates your level of musical ability compared to the others in your instrument section. I’m high school and collage and professional settings chair becomes less important than the part you play as performance becomes more important than competition .

But it's often not just bad form. It's form which is completely inconsistent with the tone/pitch she is creating

Vanya didn’t physically use the bow to hurt people (at least from what I saw here) And the arrow is the projectile and still definitely do not want to hit people or objects with your bow. So in all accounts yes a bow itself is not a weapon.

@@joeyshears1483 There's a scene I think at the start of the new A Star Is Born where Bradley Cooper is playing a guitar solo on stage. I know he did play quite a lot in the film, but not that solo. The camera work/lighting are absolutely brilliant because it's a hand-held that ends up pointing directly at a spotlight that whites out his guitar playing. It looks so natural and realistic but subtly hides the fact he's not playing the solo.

I agree and disagree at the same time. You're right in the sense that a "normal" person who practices will go further than a prodigy who doesn't. With hard work and determination, everyone can become a high-level musician. However, there are a very tiny proportion of the population that definitely have a "special thing". They are the ones who become world-class artists. Of course, they also need to practice a lot. Talent is useless as such, it needs to be nurtured.
