Violinist Ray Chen and chamber orchestra perform the third movement from "Summer" of Vivaldi's Four Seasons for Rockport Music's Gala concert 2023. Rockport Music | Shalin Liu Performance Center June 4, 2023 rockportmusic....
Absolutely phenomenal! What a violinist! And the power of the whole chamber orchestra, together perfectly throughout, was stunning to watch. Thank you for this post, you made my day. :D
He is great, however, this piece is not a virtuoso piece. It's fantastic from the melody, however, Iquite ordinary from a technical perspective for any violinist.
I keep coming back to this video. I love the way Ray Chen plays it takes my urge away to shake my head crazily. Watching him do it makes the music better. If I met a man like that who's so compassionate for music I would marry him right then and there.
Absolutne mistrzostwo chciałoby się krzyczeć bravo I skakać ze szczęścia. Każdy powinien wysłuchać twoich muzycznych dokonań. Dajesz ludziom szczęście i radość. Dziękujemy.
Ray Chen...tiene mucho talento, gran fuerza y mucha pasión en cada interpretación...a mí me encanta este video, es fantástico...🎉🎉🎉🎉gracias por compartir...
Gotta behave during the performance. It's how they work in there. You don't wanna disturb the other audience with how you act, keep it and let it out after the performance is done.
For years I have been a videographer of musical performances so I observe audiences. People sit quietly (and respectfully) listening and watching a musical performance. Their enjoyment is in their minds. You won't normally see audiences smiling from ear to ear or grimacing or moving their bodies in any way. It would draw attention to the audience member and possibly even be distracting and disturbing to the performer in a concert hall.
It was my first time 'meeting' you in one of your very interesting vlogs; a tour around the Curtis Institute of Music. So well done! Now having watched your Vivaldi Summer performance, I'd say you are becoming (already are?...) the Lang Lang of the violin! So expressive! Thank you and all the best to you in your career. A Canadian
Ray's performance is great so applause to that. However, my favorite recording will always be Shunske Sato with the Netherlands Bach Society. The sound that Sato's violin gets because of it's maker and cat gut strings make all the better. The general use of baroque instruments for this piece makes it that much better.
Ray's very talented and technically amazing. I think he presses the bow too hard on the strings, which can sometimes make the sound to harsh and aggressive. As a violinist, Itzak Pearlman's rendition of Vivaldi Four Season is more airy, and the scales have a less staccatoesq sound. I think Ray's bowing technique and the type of strings ( Dominant, Peter Infield) he uses make the recording sound more aggressive than Vivaldi probably intended. I personally don't love Dominant strings. I prefer Pirastro Evah Pirazzi and Gold violin strings.
You only need to watch a few others perform this piece to understand how special Ray is. Reminds me of John Williams with the guitar but more expressive.
"Faça uma pausa, respire fundo e ouça a beleza criada por aquilo que chamamos de "civilização ocidental". Aumente o som e eleve seu espírito com um trecho de As Quatro Estações, de Vivaldi, tocada pelo excepcional Ray Chen." Roberto Motta - escritor Via X.
Whatever got in his head, Antonio Vivaldi. Sublime undescribable. Plus you’re talent and you’re complete surrounded and commitment to the part beyond human.
