Amazing light you have there. I swear by Viparspectra, I have 2x XS2000 V1, 2x P2000 V1and I am in the process of buying another 2x P2000 V2, Beautiful lights with a huge power reserve, I grow tomatoes, peppers and chillies in tents, two lights in each tent, never over 50% power, PAR over 600. You will enjoy them.

7:27 your thoughts and reasoning are exactly the same as mine…. Once I saw the horticultural sector had moved over, that when I knew they were on to something…. Glad to say I made the switch too…. My scotch bonnet chillis are gonna be awesome next year…. Good review mate !

Thanks for the video. I am new to growing and I live in Florida. I do tend to baby my plants when they are seedlings. Starting them in small 4" cups and then transplanting them into 7" pots before transplanting them into my raised garden beds. Currently I have all my starts on two large carts, that I wheel out every morning and bring them back in my garage in the evening. Here in Florida we have a shorter sunshine hours. We average 7 to 9 hours of sunshine through out the year. Where up north your sunshine hours are much longer during growing season. 9 to 14 hours of sunshine during growing season and much less during fall and winter. (4hours) Anyway I am thinking about getting one or two of these grow lights, so your video has helped. Again, I am new to growing and you mentioned stretching plants out. What causes that and how do I prevent that so that I will have healthier plants?

Hello, I'm glad you found the video useful. It's been working great for me since I posted this video, my plants love it. To answer your question about plants stretching... the seedlings will stretch if the light intensity is not strong enough. They are trying to get closer to the light. Sometimes moving the grow lights closer to the plants can help as long as the heat from the light won't harm them. Regular florescent bulbs need to be just a couple inches from the top of seedlings. The light in this video is very intense. I am able to keep it about 22" away from my seedlings at 50% brightness with no stretching. Hope this helps!

@@PeaceLoveGarden Thank you. Like I said I am very new at growing. I started mid to late summer last year and I was babying my plants, because I live in Florida and the heat here will fry plants pretty quickly. So, I kept them under my front porch, where they did not get very much direct light. They seemed to grow very thin stocks. Now I know why. This year I started in early February and I have them all on carts, that I can wheel out into the sunlight and wheel them back in at night and or if we are having bad weather. I am at the point now, that I have started moving them out to my raised garden beds that I built last summer. I have removed the shade cloth for now, but will probably put them back on when it starts heating up. I am thinking that when late November - January gets here I can stretch out my growing season and also give my startups longer and more consistent lighting using grow lights.

@@jeffnay6502 sounds like you have a good plan. Gardening is a learning process and it sounds like you're on the right track. Yes, even in the shade of a porch the plants can stretch and lean towards the light. Lots of growers try a windowsill with same issues. But the shade cloth will definitely help mature plants in the heat of a Florida summer once they're established in your raised beds.

Question : on the xs2500 pro. That you own. can you remove the bars. Also can you adjust the space the bars spaces the two boards/light out. Basically online it saying it’s 37 inches long and I need it to be smaller then 36 inches. For this reason I see xs2000 the only option for 3x3 setup. And info is appreciated

I'm currently using 4 lights 2 are 4 bulbs T5 54w. And 2 are 4 bulb T8 32W. I have been thinking about switching to LED lights like the one in this video and I was just wondering how you like it for starting vegetable seedlings? Do you find the lights don't have to be on as long versus t5's? Also if you could give me an idea of how high you keep them off the seedlings? Thanks.

Works great for seed starting. I run the LED for the same amount of time as I previously ran the T5's. As far as distance, I put it about 24" for seed starting in my grow tent with the dimmer set at 25% then 50% as they got bigger. This thing is seriously bright. I found that this light will easily cover the 24"x48" footprint of my grow tent. The fixture comes with a chart for general height suggestions, seems to be pretty accurate.

@@PeaceLoveGarden Thanks for the reply. My T5 bulbs are starting to burn out after 5 years. They cost $45 for 4 to replace so I'm thinking I might go LED. Electric bill is another consideration. I've been looking at that style light on Amazon and can get a few under $80. One the same size of yours for $108. I might buy one or two for next season as I just bought new T5 bulbs. Thanks!

The T5 bulb cost was a driving factor for me to switch as well, more so than the electric bill. There are a lot of good LED lights out now. Mars Hydro and Viparspectra are 2 of the best bang for the buck from my research. I'd avoid the strip or tube style like Barrina. The LED panel style lights are the way to go, especially if you might like to grow plants to full size with them some day.
