"Harmony is the realization that all sensations are temporary, and is found in watching them pass instead of chasing the highs and running from the lows." Beautifully put. 👍
Om Sabbe Satta Bhavantu Sukhi Tata! May all beings being happy! The Dharmapada,"How good it is to rein the mind,Which is unruly, capricious, rushing wherever it pleases. The mind so harnessed will bring one happiness."Thank you for this edifying testimony. Peace.
Yeah, beautiful explanation of Vipassana, thank you 🙏 Now let's continue to meditate daily and put into practice in our lives what it teaches us: equanimity, love, compassion. Just to be a good human being, not harming others and help whenever needed ❣️
Thank you. I have been doing anapanasati since many years. Just wanted to add that in real practical life be careful what you feed your mind. Feed trash and trash will come out. Avoid comparing yourself with others, avoid storing bottled up emotions, reduce watching negative social media-fake news channels and avoid constipation as it affects the mind. Best wishes--Counsellor.
Thank you. Need to really master the mind to calm depression since child hood. I am from Kathmandu. There are three centers around my home city. Trying to learn and reach out to them. Applications are always full. Hope I get lucky someday. Practice Vipassana.
I tried a ten day vipassana retreat once, and i left after the third day in tears. I was really upset. Not from what the meditation was bringing up though. The dorm that i was sleeping in was a pitch black hot box. And i am claustrophobic. And the people that I was sharing the dorm with basically ganged up on me because i kept opening a window to let in a bit of moonlight and air. They were not very tolerant or compassionate people. I didnt feel included or welcomed. And they suceeded in getting rid of me so they could have that window closed. Kinda petty ah. On the last day i had to stay outside all night in the forest, in the cold because i had no where else to go. Therefore i didnt sleep all night and I was a emotional mess. In this state there was no way that i could continue applying the method because i was over tired and couldnt focus. So i left, devastated. It took me a while to recover from this experience because i was quite traumatised from it. I would never go back to that place ever again. But i learnt something, if i went to a retreat somewhere else, i would check out the accommodation first. I think you have to have the right kind of environment at the retreat for the method to work.
Keith that was just excellent, well told :). Really well captured the essence of Vipassana. What are you doing now with life? are you still practising Vipassana?
This is a good video explaining vipassana meditation and a great deal of work has been put in making editing it but it unfortunately has some verry annoying and unclear audio that is at times so loud that it gets diffecult to understand the narater. Especially on a cell phone and with my ears 👂 tat have 50 years of mileage. And please loose the volume on the church bell. Please consider this feedback and I will meditate while I rewatch to find peace with it
yes if you want a opinion here it is... Start at home, sitting on a yoga mat, cross legged with a cushion or 2, supporting knees with padding/cushions, helped me. Listen very carefully to instructions. Question time after every discourse, is very helpful, most questions, about the technique will be answered. Do another course as soon as possible or stay & serve the next course
I experiences so much pain, incredible spasms and found sitting painful. Maybe that was my way of rebelling. Afterwards I was way to sensitive to everyday life.

You can only be mentally addicted to weed. You can quit any time and not suffer any withdraw. Sure it might feel alittle depressing but once you can go 3 days without it. You can quit but first you should see all the benifits of smoking or consuming cannibus like in medibles or thc extracts like CBD. Mary Jane is not bad man. Its helped millions if people already.
Did you get to any truth about yourself/ your illusional ego, from the moments of meditation when you are in the now, with out thought ? Something more concrete. I just want to know, cause I know that meditation can calm you down and get you more energy. I have experienced that. But thats not really development just more of tendensy to be more calm.
If you ate meat as lunch/dinner from that retreat, bought from some supermarket, does that mean you've paid someone to kill, chop and pack that animal meat for you eat? That defeats the code of abstaining from killing any beings =/
There are great documentaries about Vipassana being brought into prisons and the amazing impact! Check this out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CKUr-hhy0Es.html -> Dhamma Brothers (Full Documentary 2008)
You haven't actually seen things as they actually are. You need to reach Nirvikalpa Samadhi. That can be acheived through years of meditation....or an extremely large dose of the neurochemical dimethyltrypamine. I did the latter.
He is relating his experience and maybe he felt he did see things as they really are . Each individual is different . Stop judging people . What difference does it make to you . People need to be more encouraging and less negative .
Actually, you utilize shamanta which is one-pointed concentration and balance to achieve samadhi. This is not the same as vipasanna, which really is best as a secondary practice. Although samadhi has levels and can be described as bliss, clarity and non-conceptuality, it is merely the substrate of conciousness and useless otherwise. People can easily get stuck there or "addicted" and not move on. The first bhumi of one-pointed meditation is sufficient as a basis, but one can pursue the rest if so desired. As far as vipassana goes, one can look up the four close applications of mindfulness as per Buddhist teachings in order to learn more. Calm abiding and stability give you a workable, flexible and serviceable mind as a basis for just about anything, (like vipassana or even art and music), but it is meant as a basis for higher practices that are best received from a teacher with a good lineage and years of learning and practice. Just wanted to note that, while some systems might promote Nivikalpa Samadhi as a pinnacle or "enlightenment" it can be said that it is neither. To each his own and different strokes for different folks.
