@@Smitology Till 19th century, only India had diamond mines in the whole world. In 19th century, diamonds were discovered in South Africa by the colonizers, and then in other African countries. Still, all those diamonds come to Surat for cutting and are then supplied worldwide.

Those satellites give us GPS, weather forecast, helps airplanes to travel, military and civilian observation satellites, even agriculture now uses GPS. The important role these systems play in our daily lives cannot be underestimated.

There are tons of satellites orbiting around. Lots of private entities, universities other than government launching their nano satellites. They can have various type of operations.
Those 96 satellites were part of a constellation for a private American company that aims to observe earth. So any place on earth will be captured once in a day and that will tell how landscape changes in a year or month. This will aid in observing deforestation, river couser change or land reclamation etc.
Imagery, data collection, commercial, environmental, humanitarian, atmospheric measurements, and other research & weather satellites were deployed to their orbits.
bruh those satellites were mostly communication satellites and they were micro in size. Manyt of them were from private labs and Observatories with a year long life.
