In case you’re wondering why he failed: a) he clearly didn’t expect to get past the first round b) the audience members behind the judges are fake, they’re the one who start the cheering and standing ovations. They didn’t want the tequila guy to get past round 2 despite it actually being funny so they made the audience members stay quiet. This whole show is rigged, if you didn’t know.

The unexpected juxtaposition the first time is what made it funny. The second time, he repeated the act. This kind of repetition is only funny if you push it much farther, and he obviously wouldn't have time for that in two sets. Also, the whole act is an Andy Kaufman Mighty Mouse remake. Also, the show is rigged.

I love the Tequila guy Andy even more for his obvious middle finger 🖕 to AGT with that lackluster 2nd act! So brilliant and no one got the joke which is even funnier. He was dared by his roommates to audition so making it to live shows was just a bonus. Getting cut from round 2 was probably his second dare. I love this kid!

His bit with tequila was very reminiscent of an ansy Kaufman bit. Andy Kaufman didn't succeed because he applied the same concept of the danger mouse theme to other songs...he succeeded because he applied his style of subversion of expectations to many forms of art and performance. This guys tequila bit was brilliant. There's more happening than just him saying "tequila" that makes it work. He may have been able to develop his act much better if he thought about other things to do with his style of comedy. Instead, he's just literally looking for other songs the same bit works with.
