I thought these were kinda contradicting but I guess he means put yourself in a box and force yourself to use limited tools in each one of the multiple projects you’re working on.
@@sj4267 in my experience, when I have limited resources from being in "a box"- instead of getting hung up on what tools or resources I'm lacking, I'm forced to be scrappy and tap into a different type of creativity to hit what I'm trying to accomplish.
Naw, I came in with that notion, but realized he’s really giving out a lot. I always considered Virgil to be quite mediocre in his aptitude, but the knowledge and information he’s spewing out, is really making me realize how much I discredited him. Because he’s saying a lot of things I didn’t realize as a student of this game
as much as he might of so called took or been inspired by, he def gave genuine free game. Looking back years later and not seeing these designers do the work.... why are these talks not amplified?
The minute Virgil said do you have other videos, then asked him how did you do that, I knew Virgil had a different motive. Don’t be surprised if you see that idea in the next show. Lol
Yep, I would have just said a friend done it for me lol. Most of these big designer take ideas from people who don’t have much recognition and that’s sad. People who have the most creativity don’t have as much recognition than people who have the clout. I understand he was probably excited to share his idea with Virgil but don’t spill out all his ideas
@@curtisbmw13 Thats my point lol. You take the concept, put a bunch of money behind it and make it 10x better but that doesn't take away the fact of him potential taking someone's idea and making it his own. Also this is all hypothetical and speculation.
Away from the subject but when your doing photos for your clothing line website, do all the backgrounds need to be the same for each item of clothing or model?
put yourself in a box & force yourself to use limited tools, limiting yourself to what you're strongest at will allow you to duplicate what you're doing.
Ideas or statements behind the designs are yours and yours alone. You should ask him shitload of questions about productions, marketings, just picked his brains..
I think so …if Virgil was that kinda guy it would be difficult for him to excel to the apex perhaps he’s a great influential designer opening up great ideas for younger designers!
Instead of telling him to focus more on his clothing he told him to dive deeper into his films even by telling him to look at Spike Jones Nipsey Hussle said the biggest thing is to inspire hopefully bro can brainstorm
Concept. Put the shirts out and encourage the demographic/the filmmakers/artists to create your content for you. Use hashtags. Creaters purchase the product and produce your content for you.
it seems like the guy is not really taking this information in. He’s giving him ways to get noticed and all he can think of is, how do I these brands to work with me. Like the splice idea, you could shoot video, take the stills from that and maybe edit them to look like they were spliced out of actual film and have those be the images you present the clothing with. Wasn’t too hard to get that as a base idea and all you would have to do is just keep toying around with different things you like to do to make it better
What funny is , Mentoring your " Direct Potential Competitor "... Risky because who knows ... it looks basic now but eventually the hustle will work overtime.
you're completely under estimating and under valuing virgils intentions and contributions to this giant spinning rock we're all on. you're thinking sales checkers. virgil is trying to create new games. virgil is mj in his prime and wants to beat malone in his prime.
@@prodbyskeptics6206 you will not build a project successfully if you are busy with 5 other projects at the same time. I don't quite understand Virgil with this point
I think he means to draw inspiration from those other projects to channel into his core concept ( St-Die) if you look at Oki Sato (definitely check him out ) this man is a designer who works on 400 projects at a time. This guy works on furniture, architecture, graphic design and ect.at the same time, but he has one core concept inspired by all these fields of design. The reasons virigil is also able to do these things is because he has teams too help him ! Get a team.
I think he meant to work on 6 different projects or types of projects. So something in fashion, film, photography, etc OR some pants, some shirts, some printing, some cut and sew, etc, (just a variety of different themes, mediums or intentions) And then while working in those different themes, or mediums, he suggests to limit the amount of tools you have to create in that space. An example of an exercise that combines both of these ideas would be: Work in only black and white for 1. a fashion video, 2. a t shirt you plan to sell, 3. a wedding photo for a client, 4. a silly comic strip for a friend, 5. a photoshop collage, 6. an abstract painting. I think Virgil is suggesting that if you do that, you will probably come up with more new ideas about “black and white” than if you only painted in black in white and did not explore other mediums, techniques, or intentions for using black and white. And if you make nothing and just think all day, you wont build off past things youve made and wont have as many new ideas.
Hi guys, please i need your help..how can i get contacted i have to meet this due..please assist. I have some great Jobs but am afraid posting it out here, sincerely i need to be directed any?
dope videos brotha mad inspiring and show Virgil is down to earth and checks out small brands like mine TABA Apparel we do all cut and sew also have fun its just my hobby and a by produce happens to be money but I lobe what I do like Virgil do its fun to Create and see people were your Creativity
Damn, what he’s saying is flip the camera. Make a brand out of what you’re into, if you’re into making videos and film then sell the products that help those type of people out like the camera strap or maybe lens cases while having clothing as the background product.
Virgil gave this man the other gentlemen in this course pure gems to success, and this man did nothing with the information given to him. The other gentleman who is the owner of HYPLAND became a millionaire off of taking Virgil's advice and putting it into practice.
This is why I cringe at fashion...meanings are behind the clothing but the meanings behind the meanings are sub par and this takes away from the core of fashion which are fabrics, design, and innovation. I respect Virgil for telling him to put more effort into his garms and trying to show him a different view of how to achieve his vision, yet I think of Plato and the shadows on the wall. These ideas are shadows of the actual creativity that are contaminated by capitalism and hubris, and are just that and once light is shined upon these things, they are exposed for what they really are...impersonators...leeches...vain...wannabes ....Bless...forgive me if I offend but this is just my opinion.
we can't expect all designers to be next greats when it comes to art, surely craig green, raf simons, denma, others on the runway really capture quality, meaningful work, but not everyone is meant to be like, and that's fine, people need to play their part
