I really like the fact that you're reviewing multiple flights/cabins in each video. This gives a much better picture of what we can expect flying on a specific airline. Thumbs up for that new format ! 👍👍
Without doubt, this year is worse than the last one. This year, I lost a lot of money due to poor investing decisions that I would not have made if I hadn't been so concerned about my portfolio. I kept investing, but I wasn't sure if I should begin saving for a house. Now, I sold everything I owned, and the house needed more care than I thought. I don't know how much longer I can go on like this
Invest in businesses that have predictable cash flows to diversify your holdings. In the ten months after I hired a planner to assist me build my portfolio at the end of 2023, I have made money in over 500 different markets. If 2023 teaches us anything, it's that good luck never lasts. We should work harder to be ready for the worst case scenario even in good times
Okay, so where can i locate a reliable financial planner? I have no trouble finding out the expert who assisted you. In two years, I'll be retiring, and I could need guidance managing my possessions. Not ready to take a chance
You just had really bad luck. Virgin Upper Class is really good, and the last time I had a VS flight cancelled under me was in 1994! I was at BOS, our plane was snowed in at JFK...and Virgin journalled all us customers, including coach pax, across to BA and other carriers with capacity.
Welcome to Economy Class. Looking forward to a review of a packed Allegiant flight from your sliver of a middle seat, wedged between two walruses. If there aren't enough screaming children, the airline provides the courtesy of piping in recorded screaming, so you're covered there. I'd recommend a few hours on the tarmac in Las Vegas or Mesa without air conditioning. Good times!
As a former gate agent with TWA, I've issued a number of "denied boarding compensation " passes to those who needed to be reaccommodated. Although we'd tell pax that the ticket was good anywhere TWA flew within the continental US, including Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 What folks weren't aware of was that the ticket was only redeemable in the T class of service which was closer to the end of the fare bucket spectrum. Wendover Productions did a video about 3 years ago explaining how airline ticketing works 🙋🏻
The seat configuration in Virgin Atlantic Upper Class must be the worst layout of any airline for a ‘business class’ price ticket. The herringbone seating plan look like horse stables, narrow and cramped.
WOW, did we have a different experience on Virgin. We flew Upper Class RT from SEA to LHR in June. 787. Worst seat we have ever flown (we have flown international Bus/1st on BA, Cathay, Delta, etc.) in our 30+ international Bus/1st flights. Seats were wide open and it was an overnight flight so we wanted to sleep. No privacy at all. Having to flip the bed sucks. That gives me the option of sleep or nothing because I can’t read or see the television screen. Food was meh. Dinner wasn’t terrible but the breakfast prior to landing was totally inedible. They messed up on our meal request and had nothing for us. They had ONE fish dish for dinner and one chicken. My wife is allergic to fish so that meant she got the chicken. The fish SUCKED! As to service, on the way home the purser announced that they had a number of FAs call in sick so we could expect the service to be slower than usual. It was actually no worse than the service on the way over which was HORRIBLE. Barely acknowledged us the entire flight. And what’s with you liking an airplane where you can’t look out the window because it is behind you? You and I usually agree on most airline stuff but we will NEVER fly them again. We have flights in Bus on BA next week to LHR from SEA and then on to Madrid. Next summer (on your recommendation) we are flying United Polaris SEA to Newark and then Newark to CPT. Hope it is as good as you said.
Which is standard treatment for downgrades. I've had the exact same thing several times and I'm an absolute nobody -- and in those cases, they blocked TWO seats for me. It's definitely a pro-tip for anyone who gets bumped for an equipment change. If Business shrinks, Economy grows quickly which means lots of empty seats in the back. Ask for one of those with a block and get an entire section on your own. It's generally a better option than Premium Economy.
Virgin Atlantic A340-600 was the first ever long haul jet I flew on when I was 10 in August 2011, LHR-LAX, First time I flew on a double aisle plane and first ever one to have IFE screens! Economy and then Premium Economy on the way home.
This is like when i tried to lose my "Virgin"ity, it took a few times and i ended up downgraded and in economy instead of getting the business class experience the first time..............Virgin Atlantic, you need start flying to Vancouver! Please?
Dan one of the most disappointing flights I’ve had in biz class is Virgin. The food is uninteresting and they overdo it on “ being different”. It’s simple nice steak, chicken entree or seafood. Only thing I liked was the friendly crew. Not worth the money
I used to travel on Virgin twice a year. Usually walking past business to economy is depressing, but always thought their old Upper class was a bizarre design that prioritised a quirky design over privacy to an absurd extent. Really doesn't look relaxing to sit there.
You really make me feel old. My first flight was on a Dan Air London 737-200. The A340-600 wasn't even a blueprint, in fact I don't think Airbus existed as a company back then.
My family members and I have been involuntarily downgraded 5 times in the last 2 years on AA & BA flights on flights that were NOT cancelled. Getting routine now: the complaint is filed before the plane takes off. After 3-6 months of multiple complaints (and offer of a few FF miles) I get some small fraction of the fare returned. 75% or free round trip (even lounge access was spontaneously revoked)- I wish. Blessings!
You speak of Gate A10? (Which Gate A10?) I'm surprised that they send long hauls to that gate. :O - Upside? Up close and personal with a 787-10 engine. Downside? Well, you know...
Interesting: I was on a Virgin Atlantic flight in business from Boston to London (connecting in London) earlier this year, and the flight was cancelled. They rebooked my 10 pm flight to a 5 pm flight with Air France, but I had to rushed to the airport to barely make my flight.
I was well compensated when Virgin cancelled my return flight from Boston to Heathrow in May. I was rebooked onto a service that left 1hr 5 mins earlier than the original flight and under some EU legislation that extra 5 mins above the hour meant they had to compensate me and it came to more than the return trip had cost me (I had a voucher to bring the cost down). I even got the same exit row seat I'd prebooked on the original flight. Awesome service as always from the crew.
I just don’t think this was acceptable. If I was booking Upper Class so that I could arrive in NYC refreshed for an important meeting (for example) and this happened, I would be furious. Yes, the staff seem very friendly and smooth the situation, but really, how unreliable?
They sort of gave you business treatment with economy seats. I once flew SAS with a Business Ticket on a plane without business seats and they blocked the seat besides business class passengers and provided a different meal etc.
Oh, Dan. Oh, Oskar. Join the wee club that I've enjoyed/suffered in for two decades - The Cursed Heathrow Club. We need our own lounge. Oh, and PSA - Dan was not poiting out the Jersey Shore but Rockaway and Jones' Beach (which had the first really LGBT beach in NYC, starting in the 60s).
VS crew are awesome. One time the captain found out that I was using points to complete a round the world trip and he invited me to the flight deck after landing. Very special flight for me.
Virgin is the airline I've flown most, having taken many many flights with them since the 90s, however I feel its steadily gone downhill. The last time I flew with them was upper class London to Mumbai, and it was such a shit show I decided never to fly with them again.
You’re more cheerful than I would be if I got screwed over like you guys did. Really,no matter what the carrier did for you,you still had to sit in economy for a pretty long flight. BUT at the same time, there’s no point getting in a twist about it…I guess!😂🤣
The seats in the first part are the same I flew in 2005 - kind of pathetic when you compare it to Polaris, DeltaOne, let alone ANA or JAL or Cathay or the various Arabian options. That said, I had a great sleep on one of those seats flying from LHR-JFK more than a few times, and the soft product is always great. Just make an upgrade on the seats.
I’m so excited about this that i’m saving it until tonight to watch!🤷🏼♀️😆I’m getting in my PJ’s and popping popcorn after I study and get my chores done…thank you for reviewing Virgin!!
About Adams, that party can nail anyone at anytime, for anything. My guess it's related to his resistance to being overwhelmed with illegals. Just a guess.
Love love love how you weaved the Eric Adams scandal into the video, bravo !! 🎉 Also I know I’ve said this before but I’m loving the facial hair! You look so good…demure even! 😉 Loved this video so entertaining and informative as well!! 🤗👌🏽
I think i know what happened with your special meals. Check your ticket number's if they differ from the original, then thats the reason why your meals weren't on board. I had this happen to me. The gate agent managed to mangle my boarding pass, so I changed my ticket number in order to reprint my boarding pass, which automatically cancelled. Y lactose free meal. Thankfully, the KLM crew was amazing, and i ended up with a business class chicken tikka crew salad and the biggest apple I'd seen in a long time. Almost a shame it didn't happen on the way back as the homeward lactose free meal was not good.
Flew with them earlier this year, Virgin was terribly cramped in economy, will avoid them going forward. Couldn't help but notice your bottle of water which is essentially what the entire economy class has to share lmao...
The upper class service and food I received from Barbados to London last year were about as bad as it can get.. the food chicken awful and friendliness was just missing sadly!
I would imagine most frequent fliers who want to charge on board do carry a variety of cords - USB C is still relatively new so not surprised plain only has USB-A
I'd say that if an airline is as inconsistent as Virgin, it may be worth trying a different airline. Especially for those who only have one flight if their lifetime, this is not going to be something that should be risked.
Virgin is my favorite European. I have ONLY flown economy and premium not upper class. But My dads Diamond Delta Status granted us access to the club house at LHR. VEry nice!
12:09 The lighting reminds me of Emirates’s newer 777 and A380 aircraft (and the A350s that will come soon, despite not having seen Emirates’s A350 cabin). Having said that, I have literally horrified Virgin Atlantic.
I have been waiting for you to review virgin for so long, and despite that the overwhelming thought at the end of this video was still that i'm thankful for you r honest reviews.
20:38 I once spent about 3 of my 4 hours in the lounge out there on a bright sunny day. Get to watch planes, sunbathe, and you're right, almost no-one goes out there!
