Virgin Mary of Varkou, a miracle inside a cave 

In the prefecture of Ilia, in the village of Calidona, we find the location of Varko. There is a magical place, a forest of plane trees. and a beautiful waterfall. On the rock, a cave is nestled. In this cave it was found by miraculous way in 1845 AD. the icon of Panagia Varkou. From 1883 AD the cave began to function as a church celebrated on 23 August.
