Award-winning filmmaker Dodge Billingsley tells the story of India Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment - crack US frontline troops.
With some as young as 19, the invasion was the first time any of them had actually been sent into combat. Having joined up with the regiment two months before they went into battle and watched them train and prepare, Dodge was able to experience first-hand the fears, hopes, black humour and occasionally humdrum day-to-day life of these young men as they played a vital role in the liberation.

I'm pretty sure this is from the 1st Gulf War (1991). There's no I-phones or banter about e-mailing wives, girlfriends, family etc. There's no talk about social media or RU-vid. They didn't serve 3 tours back then. I could be wrong but this looks like some old footage.

I would like to see these young troops towards the end of their tours. This brought back a lot of memories and I was reminded how things were around the March-April 2003 time frame (most likely when this was filmed) when things were still new compared to December 2003, when our initial 90 day deployments got extended to 12 months, and the contact, ROE, terrain, and overall moral changed. God bless everybody out there still fighting the good fight.

No bullshit! Training rehearsals, battle drills, and live fire exercises are scary before combat. You can never get that out of you when your body and mind along with your unit start to synchronize through muscle memory. Then all of a sudden you are in combat. Your individual skill has to be at best good to function within that team to survive. A individual or unit can train to 101% to their abilities but combat is mostly luck because the other guy on the other side is thinking how to kill you best right now. You also have a thinking enemy and they will do their best effort in killing you. Bottom line is that is human nature of things.

Small arms . etc..They will sometimes go at it all night and day. There is often Chinooks , Apaches, Blackhawks etc. in the sky. I always see Strykers and other armored vehicles. Sometimes you can get lucky and see them parachuting in a particular area that is a few miles from my house. A couple months ago they landed numerous Blackhawks in a field surrounded by the forest. That was close to a mile from my house. Some people get pissed about it but I enjoy it. It is one of the benefits to living where live.

I was not in the video but was second platoon. I had already signed up early 2001. My first day of Marine boot camp was 17 September 2001. 6 days before I watched the towers fall. That day I looked my Mother in the eyes and said I guess I am going to War!

How about we comment on the content of the Documentary. rather than comment on each others comments. Im only 17:51 into it so far, but its been pretty good...Different from a lot of other military/war documentaries, it actually shows what its really like on down time and the build up to the invasion and gives viewers a look into the mindset/mentality of those who took part. new footage that an overwhelming majority of people have not seen until now. Time to finish this documentary.

Oh so sad. Couldn't watch the rest. Can't understand why this world can not live as one. Humans have to be controlled by war, religion, where they live, what they eat, etc.... A Child has no enemies, its pure simple acceptance no matter who you are and where you are from. why can't we take that thinking through adulthood and to our graves?.
