I don't see how it's so far out of your comprehension to understand that gun owners will use the same bag to go on different types of trips. Some involve legal shooting. We all make mistakes. No one deserves to pay for them like this.
what would you do if you were looking at 12 years. i know, you don't make mistakes. but imagine for a moment you did. what would you do to try to get out of this situation?
@@tomekadavis6133 it does not matter what i feel. laws are laws and there are too many of them. the societies need to decide which are actually truly important to them
@@CFHuss Agreed - ridiculously high price to pay for what was clearly a mistake. Let's not have a perfection standard for each other - I'll fail everyday.
"two stray rounds in the bottom of a backpack" Turks and Caicos law would never assume they were just two stray rounds. Turks and Caicos law would like to establish how and why Turks and Caicos law had been violated in this way. So tough for Americans to see matters through the eyes of places that have their own laws.
I have zero faith in humanity after seeing the awful comments here. The world is full of terrible people that think they're better than everyone else and seems like a lot of them are right here.
These men arr grown enough to be gun owners but when caught they become kids saying its a mistake we didn't kno ,lazy gun owners who shouldn't own guns
Each of them acknowledge their personal accountability for creating this situation for themselves. They are asking for leniency and or mercy from the aithorities based on their lack of intent to smuggle ammunition. They also realize they may have zero recourse since it is a foreign country. It still sucks for them regardless. You would hope for leniency if you were in their circumstances. I hope they do receive the leniency they themselves hope for, but also understand Turks has no obligation to make exceptions.
I don't necessarily think that these individuals deserve 12 year prison sentences, but I am astounded by the claim that they forgot about things in their bags. Don't they empty their bags and put them away between trips? I travel somewhat frequently, and in addition to emptying my bag when I get home from a trip, and my first step in packing for a new trip is always to check all of the pockets of my bags again. I also take a number of prescription medications, and so one of my trip preparation steps is to ensure that all of my pills are legal in the country I am travelling to. I try to do this at least a week before I leave, in case I need to make a doctor's appointment to get a prescription for something else. Obviously the TSA should have caught the ammunition - it's pretty scary that they didn't - but as a traveller, you are responsible for knowing what's in your bags, and ensuring that it's compliant with the laws of the country you are visiting.
Well stated. I do hope they find leniency from Turks. Looking at this from our side of the pond it seems unreasonably harsh. On their side of the pond, they make the rules
They are notorious for planting bullets on people. Look up Dr. Horace Norrell . That was in 2013 they planted the bullet on him. He NEVER owned a gun in his life!!!
Maybe TSA missed the ammunition BUT it is the responsibility of the traveler to not have prohibited items in their own luggage. Good lord TSA is not your parents. These are foreign countries and THEIR rules. Maybe sweeping your OWN luggage at home would have prevented this.
@@DavidHBurkart the reporters felt the need to mention these aspects of the person which to me implied a lessening of the appropriateness of the charge. how fuckin dumb are you?
How could TSA admit they "missed the ammunition in the luggage" when there is no evidence there was any ammunition in the luggage? The possibility that TSA missed nothing at all, and that neither did Royal Caribbean, must be at least considered. A stag party stopping off in Grand Turk and a couple of bullets end up in the guy's luggage.....much, much stranger things have happened on stag parties in my experience.
@@mikerichardson60 these guys admitted nothing at all! these guys told the reporters that they left the US with ammo in their luggage. no one knows if they did, or if they didn't. all we know is that they got caught with ammo on leaving Turks and Caicos. one hell of a coincidence that all the luggage scans done by TSA and Royal Caribbean found nothing in, what is it, 8 separate cases now? That's a lot of negligent, forgetful deer hunters leaving bullets in their luggage as they all head to Turks and Caicos!
Nope because no lesson will be learned, and they will think oh all I have to do is pay a fine so I can do whatever I want.Give them the minimum 12 years.
They put that ammo in their bag. Regardless of when they did it, they are responsible for doing it. No, send them to jail. This is worse than Black men serving sentences for weed. No, them men myst serve their time in prison. They should not be let free.
All right!!!! All right!!!!!! So it can happen to anyone!! No, not just Brittney Griner. Many people insulted Brittney Griner, thinking they were safe from any situation. When you point the finger at someone, it means you are worse than that person. I have always told people to stop taking yourself for judges when your fellow human beings are in difficulty. Never do this. It's dangerous.
How do you not know what you pack going and returning from a vacation from anywhere? Especially a vacation that involves hunting games. What am I missing here. Stating what no one is here but white privilege perhaps? And TSA admitting to not catching during boarding.... how rare is that admission 😂
This is 3 cases we know about. At this point, TSA and the Cruise Lines check points are useless. How many people are traveling with ammunition and other weapons now?
@@billyyank5807I agree wholeheartedly. Why do American citizens, visiting another country, blame everyone and everything when caught breaking the law. If they both get prison time they have no one to blame but themselves.🤔🤦🏼🤨
No it's not too long, and the father and paramedic should have known better he's a grown SSA man ,how irresponsible you have to be to leave ammo in your bag even in the US?? And this is why we have so many MASS SHOO TINGS.
@@KIMjB72 your not entirely wrong. Gun owners in the u.s have disappointed me with the fight against common sense gun control. I just have a lot of respect for paramedics that save people’s lives. 12 years seems too much. There was no gun just ammo.
@@camwatters644 There's alot of ppl out here who save ppl lives. But him being a paramedic and seen the damage ammo can cause and choose to still carry weapons and ammo around I have no sympathy for him , Plus when you allow someone into your home do you make them follow the rules or they can do whatever they want to?? Turks and Caicos allowed these ppl in their homes and they refuse to follow the rules. If someone enters your home without permission to do whatever would you protect your home and the ppl in it or give them a pass because they didn't know they needed permission to enter your home at night while everyone is sleeping
@@KIMjB72 im a Canadian and am baffled by the irresponsibility of American gun owners. I’m just being empathetic. When you live in a culture where guns are everywhere and not taken seriously as is the case in Virginia stupidity will happen. If he had brought a gun I’d say lock him up
So for all posters here, maybe the USA should have the same set of laws for all foreigners who enter the USA? If you don’t think that then you’re all hypocrites.
But the average foreigner is not walking around with ammo in their luggage. I think it’s common sense that such things would be illegal when crossing borders. I would be surprised if this is not already illegal at US check points 🤷🏽♀️ If it’s not that then that’s on yall.
SON YOU GOT ARRESTED IN TURKEY?.... NO DAD, TURKS AND CACOAS? YOU GOT ARRESTED WITH COCOA?.... NO DAD....IN TURKS AND CACOAS!!!...YOU GOT ARRESTED IN TWO PLACES??? DAD NO.!!!..SEND ME MONEY!!!
Did you all suddenly have amnesia? The same thing happened to BRITTNEY GRINER. She forgot her prescription products in her bag. Social media went crazy calling her names. Have you forgotten that this can happen to someone else? That why Jesus-Christ said in Matthew7.1-2 I hope that this gentleman was not one of the people who commented on BRITTNEY GRINER. 😂😂😂😂I get where you're going, plus the woman came back home when they could have stayed over there because the husband's are not in jail they can't leave the island so that means they can still walk around have fun,and what nots
Boycott them for carrying out their own laws, but the one going to different country breaking the law should be free? No wonder USA is going down. You don’t respect any law.
@@ghrbaa6727 Yes, as Americans, we have very much power to influence, help, or destroy economies. You may not like it, but we are Americans. I am a firearm owner, hunter, etc and it is easy to have something lost in a bag. How many times did you open a suitcase and see something you have been looking for, or junk you forgot was there. Non of us are perfect, but these men are victims in my eyes, and USA can support them and Americans will boycott and harm the tourism until they show some decency. I hope we all understand our places a little better.
