I used to dance the Virginia Reel in camp when I was a kid! It was fun! But I remember the first move as the boy bows and the girls curtsy. Thanks for the video!
@aeroville Michael Herman's orchestra recorded this track for RCA Victor in 1952. Tunes used: For the 'warm-up' - Turkey in the Straw For the 'reel' or 'strip the willow' - Mrs Macleod's Reel For the march: 1st and 4th times - Hail, Hail, the Gang's All Here 2nd and 5th times - The Old Gray Mare 3rd and 6th times - Auld Lang Syne
Sef Fou "Turkey In The Straw" is the main song, with intermittent songs for the marching and switching sequences of "Hail, Hail,, The Gang's All Here," along with a third song I do not recognize. I suspect this particular arrangement and compilation of songs was made for dancing, with this maybe even being comprised for The Virginia Reel..
