What a surprise! Wasn’t expecting an episode on Labor Day. Gio looks so different from when he first started out. Coleman must be dragging him to the gym lol. And Will, give these guys the holiday off 😂
Great show as always. Odu sold out on stopping the run and dared Grant Wells to beat them , and he did. It was like being in the twilight zone sitting in section 5 hearing fans wanting to run a jet sweep 😂.
Kyron really should have gone in the game for the drive that had 4 minutes left. If its about development then we need to get Drones a few snaps each week to review and he can improve this year and will be a 2 year starter next year. And do the same thing with Pop & Belfort as you do with Drones and keep the QB room developing. One ODU fan was saying that Wells needs every tire kicked - but I disagree with that, he has a ton of snaps over multiple years. We know what we're going to get with him, but the things he has issues with 1) staring down a receiver 2) accuracy & power behind his passes are not things he needs more snaps for. It wasn't really fair for Wells to get subbed in the middle of a drive and I think that knocked his confidence but that is because he IS NOT HIM. The 2 QB system can work - but you can't undermine it with things like this. Overall though there isn't too much to complain about and the coaches have things headed in the right direction. Just need the time and development for our guys.
Thought the same. Why was Wells still in the game late? We were up 3 scores and the only thing you did was risk injury. My only explanation was they wanted him to get as many reps as possible in a real game
I haven't heard anyone mention thoughts on us going for it on 4th when we were up 13 and a field goal makes it a 2 td 2 two point conversions game. Seems like that was the way to go
Ironically, the one targeting call I felt best about was the one that looked ridiculous. The BJ didn't have a fantastic view of the contact, but could clearly see the QB's head snap back (turns out it was due to him changing direction and getting a glancing blow to the chest, but still). With the view the BJ had and that indicator, I didn’t hate the flag. Had a pretty quick review to no foul there too, all good in my book. The contrast between the Payne and Henderson calls though.... 🤷♂️
Here's my question on targetting: why not make the crown of the helmet less dangerous, and pad it inside and out? I've bounced my head off the asphalt on a bike and walked away, so we have the technology. They'd probably need lots of helmets, but I can't believe the money's not there.
I've thought about this a lot, and only reason I can come up that doesn't support your idea is that the sound the helmets make in collisions is a big part of the American football experience. Separates American football from other contact sports such as rugby.
