Extremely well presented and understandable. Thank You I have a few rhetorical questions, why isn't there any self medicating going on? I sorta kinda thought that medical issues such as PTSD, Depression and the like often went hand in glove with self medicating regardless of when on the human timeline it occured. Was it there and I missed it or was absent for some other reason??? Were the Conservative values of that time period of displaying less empathy create more social restrictions than maybe some other era? Is censorship being imposed on authors be it self censoring or are there social or legal taboos in place? Did Woolf (and her characters) become obsessed with other things like writing, sex, gossip or flowers using those things as medicine? When I hear "Lunch With Gina" by Steely Dan I think of this book.
