The only problem with virtual colonoscopy is that if a polyp is found, the person having the virtual will have to have a regular colonoscopy. It would seem to be better just to have a regular colonoscopy than to have two procedures.
@@Cla60udio But, if the CT scan (i.e., virtual colonoscopy) detects a polyp, then you will have to have a colonoscopy to have it removed. Unless you can have the colonoscopy on the same day as the CT scan, you will have to do through the clean-out prep process twice. Also, the CT uses dangerous ionized radiation. There is no amount of ionized radiation that is good for the body. Lastly, ask a gastroenterologist.He or she will tell you that virtuals do not detect smaller polyps.
