A virtual dog walk in 4K video and HQ bird song audio recorded on location early morning that follows a nature path from Blackstone car park and picnic site (bottom of Bewdley by-pass) to the river Severn and the banks, through Stokes wood and back to the Start.
This is an easy dog walk that is crammed full of natural wildlife combined with a beautiful soundscape that was recorded separately at the same location to capture the morning birdsong. The bird song was recorded at about 7am using a Zoom H2n recorder at the highest MP3 bit-rate set to mid-side pointing away from the road on the far side of the river.
Walk with my dog Ruby and me as we enjoy the early summer Bluebells at the side of Stokes Wood. I do my best to keep Ruby out of the swampy section that remains after the flooding of the River Severn back in February 2020.
I also include an alternative path that runs alongside the wood away from the river as it contains a plethora of bluebells and wild garlic and is well worth a look.
What isn't caught on camera, is a peregrine falcon that took a pigeon out of the air amongst a great deal of noise from the falcon...perhaps it is hunting for its chicks that nest nearby, which I believe is likely to be the case.
A link to the route on Garmin's site can be seen here: connect.garmin...
Here are a few notable sections in the video you might like to jump to:
02:46 Starting path with by-pass on the left, a caravan park on the right
03:38 Steps on left take you over the by-pass if you wish to cross the river
09:41 Site of peregrine falcon taking a pigeon on the cliffs
11:23 Perilous steps to river's edge. Salmon can be seen here at times
13:20 Sandstone cut through
15:30 River Severn to your right. Stokes Wood lies ahead
16:38 Flowering wild garlic
19:36 Sound recording location. In the shallow grass on the right
22:00 The sun glints through the trees
24:50 *Start of the diversion alongside the wood to the bluebells
30:09 Start of the bluebell field
35:39 Swamp section on the right
36:50 Bluebells and red campions close up
38:28 Some cautious ducks check us out
41:00 Weeping willows shedding seeds in the morning sun
42:42 A profusion of buttercups in the wet grass
44:44 Ruby looks pleased with herself after a dip. First shots of the Severn looking lovely in the morning sunlight
47:44 Another look at the bluebells
49:10 *Takes the path that follows the wood avoiding the swamp and bluebell field. Both come out at the same point
51:05 Awaiting identification. Do you know what flowers they are? Please comment
52:52 Ruby comes running to me. She sits and sniffs the cool air
58:40 If you like dandelions...
01:07:42 There are some steep river banks. Take care with smaller dogs
01:09:28 Ruby emerges and joins the main path alongside the river
01:14:57 Good access point into the river for Ruby
01:22:26 Social distancing in action
01:26:04 Ruby gets in the water at the river's edge
01:28:04 Ruby has a 'controlled' meeting with a King Charles Spaniel
01:28:45 Ruby has to jump and gets the zoomies
01:36:00 A thick bed of dandelions
01:38:22 Sandstone rock face. Common in this area.
01:39:00 A short rest and some grass removal.
01:39:19 Ruby realises that her evening groom will be an extended one
01:48:21 Ruby sits for the lead back on and the final section
01:51:44 End of the walk and Bewdley by-pass build stone
I hope you enjoy this relaxing dog walking perspective and thank you for watching.

My dog loves your virtual walk videos; this one in particular. He will start out watching Ruby exploring and before I know it, the wonderful bird chirping has put him to sleep. I work from home and my dog watches TV half the day. I just turn on the playlist of Ruby playing and walk away. Thank you for taking the time to film it.

I love your videos! It inspired us to do the same with our dog on youtube. Your dog is always so cheerful and happy and the scenery is so relaxing. Keep up the good work!

This is my dog’s favorite video ever. She loves the virtual dog walks when we’re getting ready for bed, but she especially likes the involvement of this cute little puppers. This is the only video that actually keeps her interest. She’s actually watching it right now as I’m typing this. She goes crazy when the leash is removed. 🤣

Such a great concept and beautifully filmed...I really feel as if I'm outside in the fresh air and nature. Lockdown limits doing much of that for real, but watching this frees my mind, soul and spirit. Ruby is lovely :-)
