Photographer Bruce Katz discusses his exhibition at Morris-Jumel Mansion titled Past/Present, on view from September 23, 2023 - February 25, 2024.
Past/Present is an exploration of the original property of the Morris-Jumel Mansion, Manhattan’s oldest surviving house and a historic site that has witnessed the evolution of American life from 1765 to the present. Photographs presented in this exhibition document the complex history of the original 130-acre property in Washington Heights that today spans fifty modern city blocks and trace the area’s development from farmland to an urban environment.
