Traci Talasco’s site-specific installations at the Morris-Jumel Mansion, “Revised Histories,” address the re-telling of history with its mistakes, inaccuracies, or details purposely left out. Viewing the space through a de-colonialist lens, her use of pink erasers and bars of ivory soap recontextualize the familiar in poetic ways. Talasco has spent almost two years working on this project, and during this Virtual Parlor Chat, she discusses the concepts in the work, her research, and her process.
"Revised Histories" is on view at Morris-Jumel Mansion from December 1, 2022 - April 30,2023.
