Virtual Q&A: Island Packet 439 - Best Full-Size Cruiser 

Thanks for this Q&A it hadn’t popped up for me before. For me, it was ❤️ at first sight with the IP 349, but due to being disabled, I was a bit gutted, that I couldn’t really fit what I needed into the 349 to be able to continue Sailboat Sailing, but with the IP 439, I can, and thanks to the wide range of Options available with a New Build, it actually works out to be more affordable than getting a Second Boat Customised to what I need- as I can’t do the DIY work any longer, just the Labour Bill would be pretty Dramatic. I’ve also done a bit of reconsidering. I was going to go with Selden in Mast Furling anyway, but was a bit wary about the Seldene automatic type system, which did seem a bit too much “Hands Off”. Now I think I’ll opt for it. I do like Quantum Sails, and they were the first Sailmaker I approached, that were prepared to make me the Battenless Triradial Furling Cruising Mainsail that I was looking for. Others I approached just said “We Don’t Make Battenless Main Sails, if they even bothered replying. Since, others have started making them too. If a Cruising Sailor, battens chafing and general wear and tear, ruins furling reliability and shorten Sail Life, and Triradial Construction, recovers most of the Power lost by not having Battens. No good for Sailboat Racing, but why should Sailboat Cruisers Care about them, given the nonsense they have inflicted on Cruisers, such as stupid twin Rudders, deep Draft Keels, and Mainsheet Tracks in Cockpits ? 🤔 Best Wishes. I loved your QandA. I am going to be a future owner of a IP 439. I am glad i saw this interview with you and Darell. A fiber glass stern mounted Arch for radar etc is something i am very keen on since the whole yacht market is using Solar, I also am happy to hear that you can have a Hull colour that you can customize. All these ideas and things you can put on the table are going to keep this great yacht builder in Business for decades to come.

Love my 350, but I hope to be able to afford one of these in a few years. A lot of smart upgrades.

Problems with the current IPs. 1) They are still really dark inside with terrible natural light. 2) That sugar scoop makes if extremely difficult to mount a windvane. 3) You still have to rip apart the floors to do any work with any of the tanks.

This video is phenomenal for marketting. However, I have now been calling for 3 consecutive days requesting a call back. You can't make a sale if you fail to make call backs to potential clients
