‎السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ I took a few notes for myself, I hope it can be beneficial for someone. (If there are any mistakes, you can notify me and I will make the changes In Shaa Allah) Fasting Saum (singular) Siyam (plural) What does it mean? Linguistically it means to refrain from something In sharia, it means to stay away from things that are forbidden with intention (niyyah is in the heart and it should be before fajr time for obligatory fast) for that particular time -It is obligatory to fast in Ramadan (in surah Baqarah) -This is the basic obligation on every capable Muslim (does not make you exceptionally pious, just the minimum you are required to do) * after puberty, not traveling, not sick (e.g diabetic) -whoever fasts with IMAAN and expectation of reward, his past sins will be forgiven (don’t lose sight of this goal. Our sins are piling and we aren’t even aware. This is about minor sins and we ignore the seriousness of it when in reality they’re like small twigs and can destroy the entire person. Major sins require tawbah/repentance. Allah has given us multiple ways to seek forgiveness in Ramadan. One is fasting, second is taraweeh/tahajjud and third is laylatul qadr (all have to be done with faith and expecting of reward from Allah سبحانه و تعالى) -fasting and Quran recited at night will intercede for the person to be forgiven -Don’t spend this Ramadan like you did before (watching movies, playing games etc). This is the chance to change -fast from foul language/ useless speaking/backbiting/anger and not just refraining from food/water

ما شاء الله. What a wonderful khutba. Beautiful. Permit to me to say something I heard before.. that.. fasting is a ritual which was never dedicated to anyone on earth except to Allah. People before done sacrificed and prayed to other idols but no one did fasting to any of them except to Allah. Subhan'Allah.

Knowledge of Allah is Light And indeed, you (Prophet Mohammed Peace Be upon Him) are of a great moral character. Al-Qalam (The Pen), 68; Verse Ayah 4 This verse is the key to unlock the knowledge of the Quran If a person is doing major sins no way will the knowledge of the Quran be unlocked for him If a person is doing small sins then a part of the Quran will be unlocked to him The less sins you commit the more knowledge of the Quran will be unlocked to you Nobody is perfect but if we try put in the effort and have patience and perseverance in getting our morals better the knowledge of Allah in the Quran will be unlocked to us Knowledge of Allah is Light, if you want to reflect light of a surface then that surface should be clean so if a person commits major sins then he becomes dirty, light cannot reflect off something dirty A person shouldn’t sin and have good character in order to gain far superior knowledge from the Quran and you will have happiness in this life and the next

laylal maarif is shar of, chapt book of siyam/fasting. book umdatul talib by mansur buyuti, imam of Hanabilah. umda means best student of talib. shar is by Abdullah Basam d. 1423H. Sawm is mufrad, siyam as jama'a. Maryam said I will do Sawm. Sawm means refarin. One who is silent is Sa'em . in shariah fasting has its details with niyat. there is fard fasting like Ramadan or an oath, there is also nawafil fasting. It is haram to fast on eid, It was made Fard in 2 Ah Shaban, He fasted 9 Ramadans. Quran Surah Baqarah mentions fasting is fard as do hadith Islam's pillar is fasting in Ramadan, esp. for any sane adult, not traveling or xll or for grl mensing per other evidences. 10 :00 - Hadith all of the deeds of Bani Adam are for him except Sawm, this is for Me and I will reward him! hadith there are two joyful moments, when they break their fast and when they see Me (Allah). (Bukhari 5927, book of dress & also see Sahih Muslim 1151, book of fasting and they are combined in Nasa'i 2216, book of fasting) Hadith whoever fasts in Ramadan and expecting reward from Allah (affirming Tawhid Rubb). We should try to preserve, how many times at work ppl think no one sees them think its ok to lie, its hard to lower gaze today. Hafith Al Iraqi did trakrij of Ghazalis book and said it was filled with weak. Ibn Jawzi summarized Ibn Qudama summarized even further muktasar minhaj Qasidin. ... the hadith says this forgives your sins, minor sins. major sins need tawbah! 20 :00 - There is multiple ways of being forgiven in Islam! Qiyalmul layl, tahajud are similar, tarawih in Ramadan has special ettiquettes but it is the same prayer! in and out of Ramadan there was 8 rakat Nawafil followed by 3 rakat witr after 2 rakat sunnah rawatib! They used to pray close to Fajr time. Umar saw them divided and brought them back to praying united like time of the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him! Another hadith whoever prays in Laylatul Qadr, Allah will forgive their sins! This is why we see Angel Jibril Alehas Salam making dua against the one who doesn't use Ramadan and doesn't get their sins forgiven! Only thing that is a benefit, forgiveness and a clean heart on day of judgement! 31 :00 - the Quran and fasting will intercede for us on the day of judgement! Imam Ahmad said it is the reward of fasting and recitation of Quran that will interecede. hadith : i kept them away from food during day and sleep during night, forgive him! We may not get another Ramadan!

You can fast all you want if you hate anyone no fasting prayers will help you
