Bro, dont ever EVER apologize for showing your emotions!! The world is harsh enough as it is! I have a good idea how it must feel. I never served in the military, but a friend of mine did (Gulfwar, Kosovo) and the only thing that kept him going was his wife and daughter waiting at home. When he returned he found out nothing was as it was before, including himself. Eventually he lost everything, wife, house and eventually his sanity. Sad to say he couldn’t handle it and in the end he took his own life. Tbh, i just shed some tears with you on the memory of my late friend. I like what you are doing, especially the emotional ones. For me this song is very special. I am Dutch and know Douwe from the beginning of his career. When this album was hitting Spotify I was driving between Grand Rapids and Chicago, heaviest snowfall I ever experienced... And just me driving home! I lived abroad myself too.
