Who wants to build a jig every time you want a mortise a hole for a mortise lock? Even with your plunge router you're still doing way more work than what this machine is doing. Clamp the machine on the door and just use it. What a plunge router building a jig getting some clamps to clamp it on the doors Edge so it won't fall off. Then you're balancing your big plunge router base on the edge of an inch and 3/4 door. It's just cumbersome it's always been cumbersome. With this machine it makes it simplistic simple any Craftsman would have to admit to that
I don't know but I see this machine an overkill for a very simple task not to mention the complexity of operation it involves. This particular task can be easily done by building your own very simple jig and use a commercial router. I would think that this machine would cost 10x or even more than a commercial router.
Hi, great video and tool. I’m not sure I understand the last part though- for the key hole, what type of drill bit and how does it work. I thought maybe it’s like a small router trimmer bit in that after an initial hole is made you use this bit to copy the key hole in the lock ? Cheers Dan
