In a dominant position on the promontory that overlooks the villages of Grosotto and Grosio rise the Castello di S. Faustino and the Castello Visconti Venosta, included in the Grosio Rock Engraving Park.
The construction of the Castello Visconti Venosta dates back to 1350-1370 at the behest of the Viscontis and with the economic contribution of the whole valley, the fort is characterized by a double wall. The "Rupe Magna", on which countless prehistoric engravings are visible, is located in the immediate vicinity of the Visconti Venosta Castle.
Going along the crest of the rocky hill up to its western end, you reach the oldest castle built around the X-XI century, smaller in size, which had a purely defensive function. Only a few walls and sections of the foundations remain of this, as well as traces of the semicircular apse of the castle church of SS. Faustino and Giovita.
