I just bought the Lavender version and I am very pleased. I have lower back pain and it helped a lot with that. I sleep 90% on my side and 10% on my back and I feel great in both positions. This topper turned my old very firm mattress into a nice plush feel with a firm touch.....probably as a med-firm profile. I plan to buy another. BTW these come with a 5 year warranty now.
We bought the 3" ViscoSoft Select HD mattress topper and I believe there are variations in the product batches. The one we received is very firm. When you lay on it, it starts out hard and in a second or two you begin to sink in, but only about an inch. Every movement is met with an at-first stiff, unyielding surface that then yields a small amount. The consistency feels like dough or typical memory foam that has just come out of a freezer (minus the cold). This is on a new firm mattress on which we want to create a soft top layer. After a week of me waking up sore, we're trying others. Amazon has reviews that run the gamut from it's too soft, to just right, to too hard (which matches what I describe). I've had experience with six different toppers. I realize subjectivity is also a factor but I can't see anyone calling the one I received soft in any way. I'm pretty sure there are variations and we received a hard one. Thus your mileage may vary.
I am a hot sleeper. If the ventilation and gel infusion helps with temperature regulation, I'd be willing to invest in a topper before a new mattress purchase. I am also a combination back and side sleeper and need fluid movement to keep from feeling trapped. Thanks for the review.
The bands on the corners are a nice touch combined with the mesh on the bottom to hold it in place, but having owned several memory foam toppers, I personally prefer latex for durability and responsiveness, but memory foam toppers like this are a great budget option, especially for short-term uses.
I find latex to have too much energy for me (Talalay anyway). The material is bouncy and my every move is followed small jiggles (basically the other extreme to what some people complain about with memory foam - getting stuck and mired in the slow moving material). I suppose a high quality poly foam would be in-between.
I think the straps are a nice touch from keeping the topper from moving around all night. I would get the charcoal infused one if i was to get one but at the moment my mattress is holding up pretty well. Visco is a topper i always consider when looking at toppers.👍
You mentioned you felt it's "kind of difficult to move around on this topper". Can you describe more what you meant? I'm looking at the ViscoSoft select high-density mattress topper and can't decide between the 3 inch or 4 inch. Female, side sleeper, 5'6", 215 lbs. Thoughts about what difference the 4 inch would be over the 3 inch?
My ideal bmmattress would be a quality high density memory foam topper over a heavy duty coil mattress with no (or minimal) top layers. This way I avoid the top built in layers in mattress that degrade before the coils and I can switch out the topper when needed. This one appears to be a good topper but I would need to know the density poundage. I’m looking for something 4 to 6 pounds like the Tempur-pedic toppers/mattresses. This is a great review. 😊 Thanks
Does anyone have the Lavender infused version of this? thinking of getting it but a little worried the lavender scent would be too strong, or we would get sick of it after a while. Your Thoughts!
@@ajs6036 I'm buying a 5 inch Japanese shikibuton and a mattress topper both in queen size. I've had two many bed that started out soft and later I ended up with flat body shapes and big dips. Both of those with a couple nice comforters and a yellow 1 inch foam mat should have my back feeling like it's in heaven. I'm a side sleeper so my weight is concentrated and not spread out over my back or stomach. It's tough finding something to work that won't go flat or that doesn't feel like I'm sleeping on granite. Id cry if I spent 1000+ and I ruined it. I'll be 6 to 700 in on this.
This is one of the most highly-rated mattress toppers online everywhere, and appears on nearly every list of "best mattress toppers" when you research it. Therefore your personal opinion is junk.
