This video explains the use of dimensioning shapes in Visio 2010. It shows how to set drawing scale, find the dimension shape stencils and use the various shape control "handles" to properly show drawing dimensions.
Thanks for the video, very helpful. Is it possible to invert dimensions to be read with the drawing up the other way? I have a site plan, but the bulder wants to use a datum point for layout on the far side of the site. I have redrawn the dimensions for him to use his preferred datum point, but looking at the plan that way up all the dimensions on the X-axis are upside down. I've looked but cannot find a way to flip/rotate/invert. Help please!
It has been many years since my classes in Mechanical Drawing, but what I learned was NO dimension lines should ever be inside the drawing, only outside. Maybe things have changed since then, but I would be interested in other's input to this.
Does anyone know how to get a true scale in excel for a site plan? It seem that the bigger the site plan is the more the scale gets off. I think excel is not accounting for the grid lines and it throws the cells off. Is there an option in excel to take that into account?
