There's no lottery for the campsite, only the lodge cabins. You need to book the campsite in January when the reservations open. You can read about it in my blog post: andreakuuipoabroad.com/best-way-to-visit-brooks-falls-katmai/ Hope it helps!
Wow that was great. Thank you so much for sharing. I've always wanted to see grizzlies in person but I know I'll never have the chance. I bet it was great. Thanks again.
Booked to go in mid July (day trip), appreciate the tips and footage. Can’t wait. Will also do Harding ice field hike, our favorite anywhere. 15 years ago was last time hiked so hope we can still do it!
It’s quite an unusual experience because you’re usually not interested in seeing bears so close but here the bears are too busy fishing and are used to people
Help me out here. I am trying to go there but... I just talked today (22 June) to Brooks Lodge. They are saying that you have to sign up for a lottery draw for 2024!!! You only have about a 25% chance of being picked. The cabins are around $900.00 a night, every night. The aircraft with pontoons fly's in for $900 each way. So, we are looking at easily a $12,000 trip, coming from Texas. I want to stay several days. Is it possible to stay in King Salmon? How do you get to Brook Falls from King Salmon. How do you get back every night to King Salmon. You are saying that you can't use a tripod on the "pier"????? The problem is I will be using a Nikon 600mm lens that is heavy and cannot really be held to photograph with. I will have about 50lb of photography equipment with me, all in a Pelican case. From my prospective here in Texas, I can't figure out how to make this happen????? I
