My biggest question is did any of this furniture even belong to her? Versailles was ransacked during the revolution and everything was sold.... theres far nicer furniture believed to have been hers in private collections, theres an element of hodge-podge to some of this stuff and what about the fabric? Did Versailles have fabric recreated or did they just get a period style fabric? Confusing for me! I could be wrong, IDK the provenance of anything in her apartment but it doesn't totally seem Pompadour to me.
Madame de Pompadour is my favorite person from the past! I would love to see her rooms in person, to be where she was. I bet you aren't allowed into them though.
Madame de Pompadour, née Poisson passe pour avoir inventé le bon goût. Le goût est subjectif et mes connaissances en ce domaine sont très limitées. Admirons cependant le dépouillement des murs (quelques beaux tableaux) les boiseries épargnées par les dorures, et les étoffes fleuries, très jolies.
