There is no info board teaching you anything there. You have to prep yourself first in warsaw at the uprising museum and the Jewish life history museum.
At 2:40 at timetable of Cracow Main Station the second from the top is name of my home town: Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. Greetings from citizens of Ostrowiec.
Many people died in Auschwitz, many died in the bombing of Dresden, many people have died already in the Ukraine... The nature of life. Some tragedies are more dramatic, but life makes a tragedy of all of us all eventually. If God was really unforgiving, we would have to live in this world forever.
There are a lot of terrible things that happen, but learning about different tragedies helps prevent history from repeating itself. Auschwitz is a must go to learn about tragedy and learn how it started/progressed over time!
Go to Georgia. For 60$ a day you would achieve unbeatable value for money. Trust me. I am from Poland and I've been there twice. This country is like Tuscany, the wild west and Tibet all rolled into one, only 5 times cheaper and surprisingly open to new technologies and modern world. Impossible mix of east and west in a very old medieval land. By the way. Grapevines come from Georgia. This is the country where this species has evolved and found its way to Europe and the rest of the world. The grapevine varieties you will see and the wines you will taste are so unique you will not find it anywhere else on this planet. And by the way, it is a country as extremely safe with generous people as Poland. Trust me You will not regret, you can thank me later. It is an exotic that is easily reached for you like low-growing fruit. Think about it.
If I remember rightly, south ossetia is in Georgia, and north ossetia in Russia. Is this a worry over there? When I was a bit younger I did plan a trip to caucasus, with Georgia being the no1 country to visit. Azerbaijan and Armenia seem too dangerous now
Hi! Do you think a 2,5 hour tour without a guide would be fine? I am planning a trip to Auschwitz ( also on budget), only got tickets to 16.30 and the placce closes at 19:00, so I am a little bit hesitant, that maybe I should buy those guided tickets even if they are in polish in the morning. Also how long does the bus ride tak between the two camps?
I didn't know you could go without a tour! Was it certain hours? At Auschwitz 1 the tours are efficient but there is no time to stop and read as you get hurried through. It looked like you could pretty much go anywhere you wanted unhurried.
I believed that you are able to get there at 4pm and not have a guide! (Make sure to fact check me on that on the auschwitz website) but it was nice that we were able to move freely! Having a guide would have allowed us to stay longer because we had to catch the bus back to Krakow, so I guess it’s good if you want to save money, but bad if you wanted to see more things 😆
Aren’t most of these buildings just rebuilt? I thought the Germans and the Allies destroyed all the camps and then years later some were rebuilt for tourism
hopefully you can respond in time, im going on Wednesday with my girlfriend to Karkow. How do i get the passes without a guide? At the gate? if not where, thank you!
You have to do it online! Register for a time you want to go and then scan your ticket at the gate. I believe the website comes up when you type “visit auschwitz” into google
Hi..planning to visit in May 2023.. Does my plan look alright.. Day 1...Schindler musuem.. Day 2...Bus to Auschwitz from Glowny Day 3...Auschwitz Guided Tour Day 4...Self non guided tour Day 5...Reserve Day 6..back to krakow airport
I just want to say that on the day we both explored on out own and went in a tour, you can do both if you give the day enough time and it's definitely worth it
@@kyleandmadie yeah It's a must see place, crazy to think that humans are capable of committing such horror to fellow human beings. Such uncivilised actions should never be tolerated agian.
We went in winter, snow on the ground. I'm guessing this adds to the atmosphere. Take a moment while you're there to notice the ravens, healthy and free, on the other side of the fence. I imagined myself as a prisoner looking at these birds, wanting to be out there in the woods with them.
