Kiveton Bridge station is a reative newcomer. It actually was opened by the LNER in 1929. Kiveton park village grew up around the coal mine which opened after the line was built. It was opened to avoid a long walk to Kiveton Park station. I believe the locals sent a partition to the LNER to provide a station. Very well sited in the very centre of the village, less than ten minutes walk from my home, where city can see the line from my bedroom. A very busy line 30 years ago when I moved there. Mainly coal trains and freight as well as the passenger service. Now just the passenger service and occasional special trains.

I've used the Retford/Worksop/Sheffield train service many times over the last 50+ years and I'm familiar with the intermediate stations, having boarded or alighted from a train at all of them at some time or other. A good video, with a few nice views of the canal and of Retford itself - my home town. I can remember when the adult single fare from Kiveton Park to Kiveton Bridge was 5 pence.

This is an excellent channel with some good editing and interesting content. Subbed and binge watching! An expensive hobby, given the price of rail travel these days.

Nice vid dude. Just spent the weekend in Sheffield, it's great, definitely recommend! Plenty to do and see. All day pass on the trams for a fiver on their app too but they don't really seem to go to very exciting places.

The new trains are a lot better but there are not many of them, when you travel on the trains around Yorkshire and the North East you will find that most of the Pacers have actually been replaced by the Sprinter trains they always had some but they got extra ones from Wales and the East Midlands so i think now that Northern is one of the only train operating companies that still uses Sprinters apart from the odd one or two in Cornwall and the 150s on that tiny line where the new innovative trains failed. You will find that Northern has a lot of very basic unmanned stations in both the urban areas and the rural areas and that trains are not very frequent, it is quite common for services to be once an hour or less this is because a lot of the lines are quite long and there is not the capacity in the area for more trains. You will also find that there is no catering on the trains. I suggest that when doing this area you always take plenty to eat and drink with you and a magazine or puzzles to keep you occupied whilst walting.

I hope you will travel on the railway from Doncaster to Lincoln and then on to Peterborough, via the lovely stations of Metheringham, Ruskington, Sleaford and Spalding

I did actually come up with an idea to visit Lincoln and some of the stations around there whilst looking at doing this trip. It would be nice for me to go back as I am familiar with Spalding

A nice little video of places I live near, and work in Darnall. You're right that Darnall station isn't the nicest but there's a lot of poverty in the area yet some very friendly people and nice international food. Darnall is one of the poorest areas of the city so I think that should factor in, plus go to somewhere in the more affluent areas in the South or South West and you'd see something very different. I live in Sheffield so if you need some hints on where to go, I'd be happy to make suggestions. Those pacers trains were always a fun experience - buses on boggies lol.

Always happy to receive suggestions, what would you recommend going to see in Sheffield?
