We tour Khazaine's laboratory before going to the carbon stripping and electrowinning room at their gold processing plant in Sfariât, Tiris Zemmour Region, Mauritania. The laboratory tests the gold content in the ores, tailings, gold-rich activated carbon, and leftover leached ore. This is to ensure the leaching process is at optimum capacity. The lab is equipped with all the necessary equipment for gold testing. One of the methods used for gold assay here is Fire Assay. Fire assay is considered the most reliable method for accurately determining the content of gold in ores or concentrates. The method involves 3 steps, Fusion, Precious Metal Extraction, and Analysis-Detection. The technician took us through his process of gold testing in the laboratory.
