This week's video we're visiting Monterey and Carmel. The California coast is gorgeous this time of year with wildflowers and usually sunny weather. Restaurant: Pangea Grill Carmel Bakery Old Fisherman's Grotto Caraccioli Cellars
That clam chowder is my favorite chowder on the wharf. It’s so good! 😍😍 tastes the same as I remember when I was younger. Watching this makes me want to go out there next weekend just for the chowder 🤔🤔
🔥🔥🔥 episode y’all, Monterey is the wife’s and my Go-2 vacation spot ✊🏼🧐. We prefer the laid back atmosphere as opposed to like Pismo. To many people with the Party vibes… lol. Cheers 🍻
You guys absolutely rock love every video glad you made it back safe Taku finish the book I can’t wait to read it I read cook books for fun and to gather new ideas
I grew up in Oregon and we didn't have to do any dioramas or models in school. I had a cool drafting class but that's as close as I got. That sounds like it was a fun project!
Taku and Jocelyn Those drinks and stuff were made by Rip M. Off You both are practical, and really good food doesn't have to be like that! California is a really Taxing State. I wonder how the regular folks survive? In 1968 I was on the17 mile drive, what an amazing place and gas was only28 to 32 cents a gallon!!!! Now it's 5.27, 19 times higher!!! Do you really want a permanent home in California?
Aweee took my kids to point lobos yesterday for a hike then Carmel for dinner, my now 14 yr old has watched you guys for a couple years and would have lost it to see you guys. Next time 🤙🏼
There are less expensive options… Next time try wharf #2, the one on the right (north). If your looking for the locals version of The Grotto, try The Sandbar, same great food, just a bit easier on your pocketbook.
Aww, had I known you were in my area, I would have recommended some places! And done some fishing Leppard shark in Moss Landing, Stripper Monterey, a Cabazeon in Carmel!!!🎣 You guys ate at the Old Fisherman Grotto at the wharf? My favorite clam chowed!
We did have to do mission projects for California history. We also went to different missions around the area to see the stained glass windows. I think we did ours in 5th or 6th grade its been a while
Hey Taku and Jocelyn, you spent that much$ and couldn't eat anymore fried. But then you got a fried Canoli🤣! Good luck with your book, Taku👍. I prefer dark chocolate too🎉. JO JO IN VT 💞
I had the clam chowder from Old Fisherman's Grotto about a month ago and I still dream about it sometimes lol. Please tell me you scraped the bread on the inside of the bread bowl that had soaked up the chowder! That's the best part!
@TaklyntheWorld yeah some people definitely went the realistic route. My sister had just done hers 2 year before I did and she used sugar cubes so I wanted to also
Love Monterey! So glad you guys made it down here. The calamari and clam chowder are the best here! Did you guys get to try the different candied apples and taffy on the wharf? You guys have to come back and drive down Big Sur. (Currently down because of all the mud slides.) But hopefully it opens up soon!
Not this time. I (Jocelyn) used to get candied apples each time when I was little but I don't like sweets as much anymore. Big Sur has our favorite campsite, we were hoping to make it down there. :'(
Yes, I’m in Los Angeles we did the missions. I did mine in the early 90’s I think (it’s been many years lol). I did San Juan Capistrano which was the closest mission where I was.
We did mission projects at Elkhorn elementary near Castroville CA as a 4th grader in 1972. Elkhorn slough then near Moss Landing was not as appreciated as it is now. The '70's were great in CA. Would not live there now, but nice to visit when I can blow a lot of $$$$.
Damn, You make me feel old! I graduated high school in 85, and I remember walking across the street from school and going hunting with my vice principal after school.
Went to San Juan Capistrano about 30 miles from where I grew up. I think it was 3rd grade for us. I drew a picture but I think others made models of it.
You'll find that good tasting celery up ahead in Salinas, Watsonville areas. Nice local harvest. Ft Ord used to be there. Eastwood was mayor in Carmel, been expensive ever since.
I do like celery in a Bloody Mary. I also like a couple feta stuffed olives and some pickled green beans. Never tried bacon but I’m sure I’d like it. Often thought about opening a restaurant with a Bloody Mary bar. Where people can add what they like.
Initially walked on the right when my friends and I visited Australia (from California) and it definitely altered the flow. Fortunately we met someone from the states that was living in Sydney and corrected our behavior when it came time. It was still weird when we crossed the street and we looked the “wrong” way. Anyway we’re still alive lol
Dang it. I wish I knew you were going there. Highly recommend Gino's Fine Italian Food restaurant, Robata Grill, Tarpy's Roadhouse & Turtle Bay Taqueria. Oh, well. Maybe next time. ^.^
Ooommmgggg a chowder bread bowl sounds soooo good right now😩 Also, i hope i can snag the cook book before it sells out🫣 Also also, for the chocolate, i don’t like KitKats in the states. But in Thailand, i absolutely love them. Ive been told that the Japanese ones are even better. Can this be confirmed?
My parents used to host Chiopino parties, dad would make a sauce and add some crab and a couple loaves of sourdough, the guests would bring whatever seafood they wanted.
18% tip? Was your service not up to par? Come on Taku. As someone from the service industry you should ALWAYS tip at least 20% for decent service. Yes, even in California.
The girl needs to try and work on macking her lips in between each sentence.. kind of gross.. it’s weird how certain people when they are explaining something while eating, they really like to do that.. 😅
