Visiting SAGUARO GIANT CACTI: hiking in Arizona  

YES!!! You finally get to see one of the most cactus rich deserts in the world!!! And my old home!! I lived in Tucson with my uncle from 12 to 14 years old. Spent many a day in this park!! Mostly in the east side on the Rincon mountains. Back when it was called saguaro national monument. It hadent made national park status back then ( 1975, 77) I really love the Sonoran desert!!! I can't even remember how many kinds of cylindropuntia there are there!! Not to mention all other species of cacti there!! Opuntias, ferocactus, mammillarias and echinocereus!! A wonderful rich desert!!! My uncle actually made a table base out of a dead saguaro stump!! It was really cool!!! Alot of wildlife there also!!! In the early morning was my favorite time of the day there!! Cause you get to see just how active the desert can be!!! Deer, birds lizards snakes and other wildlife!! Love the park and the Tucson area. Something really cool also is what is left after they die. Where those gila ( pronounced hee la) woodpeckers make those holes on the trees to live in, after they die they leave what is called a cactus boot!! It's like a shell left over from where the cactus healed after the hole was made and this is left behind. A woody hoe shell!! Cool to see the mammillaria in bloom!! And yes, something under every bush!! Wach out for rattle snakes!! About a dozen different kinds of rattlesnakes in Arizona!!! And yeah, some if the chollas are pretty wicked!!! But that's how they get around. Stick to you or an animal and travel to a new spot. How do you like those giant ferocactus? Amazing aren't they? So much to see!!!!! Thank you very much for taking us with you on this journey! There was a smile on my face throughout the whole video, haha 😄😉 It was really interesting and also breathtaking to see under which unique conditions these amazing plants occur, for example the Saguaros which were growing directly in the stone walls or the Opuntia which "sat" on a big Saguaro. And the video also showed why one must love Ferocacti with their amazingly colored and uniquely formed spines. Moreover, I really want to highlight that I very much liked the videography in general but also the editing in particular with the sub-chapters, fitting music and your informative commentary. In fact, it felt like watching a nature documentary from a big TV channel 🙂 Thank you once again for this fantastic upload and wishing you a relaxed weekend ahead! :)

You have such a wonderful eye for photography, you certainly caught the majesty of the beautiful Saguaro and the desert they live in. I went to Arizona for the unbelievable Tucson Gem and Mineral Show (my daughter lived in Mesa for a while, and I have a cousin in Tucson) I was able to go to the various botanical gardens, but was most fascinated by the Saguaro, it’s amazing that it takes so long for them to finally put out an arm….Thank you for this and the wonderful commentary, more videos of Arizona certainly yes! 🌵
