I decided to do a video on the thrift shop called Value Village. Everything in the store is donated yet they are selling everything for department store prices. All these things can be found at a garage sale for 25 cents or less. Check out the video to have a laugh and be AMAZED!

Value village is ridiculous. I saw a pair of used shoes a few days ago for $59.99. Ya some things are well priced but overall they're gouging. Shitty old t shirts for $7-8 bucks, come on now that's brutal.

I agree. I remember when they practically gave stuff away. Everything in my video was worthless but still for sale lol

They know that some people shop there to resale the items they buy on the internet, which makes it hard for people like me who are shopping to keep the items because i have less money. Internet sellers thanks for ruining things for people like me who need low cost items for my home😢

Sorry to hear that....I guess the store has no way of knowing this BUT selling a used burnt candle for $4 is just silly

I’m a teacher who has summers off and I spend time looking for classroom supplies. I see the same PICKERS every damn day, hovering around and rushing to the carts every time something new gets brought out! I resent them and their reselling.

Just because someone is asking say $50 for an item online doesn't mean that's what they end up selling it for tho. Plus the resellers paid for their items and maybe cleaned it up or did some repairs to whatever whereas Value Village got it for free and threw it on the shelf as is.
@proudmanchild165

Most items that don't sell are thrown out in the compactor after a day or two or even weeks if it's more valuble. Doent that make you feel good that they where asking good money for it and now its sitting in a landfill somewhere? They must think people are real suckers.

They aren't a charity they are a for profit thrift store you gotta love it when big corporations take advantage of people The big sign on stores saying community donation are a misdirect so you will donate there instead of real charities That actually help your community

My Goodwill in Washington must have the same pricing staff. Then again, if the price on say, the canisters, was $3.99, a reseller would buy it and sell it for $15.

I have a bunch of stuff I need to donate because I am moving. Nice books, furniture but now I am afraid to donate because its literally more expensive than buying brand new. I was thinking maybe Talize? They were literally trying to sell crap shirts for 7.99

Alot of the thrift stores now are getting way too expensive. Thrifting videos on here don't help. I think the stores look on Ebay and FB Marketplace to set their prices. I told a local Value Village manager off a few years ago. There was no price on the item I was interested in and he took it into the back after I offered $50 for it (Something to do with the Titanic) anyways he comes out with an $80 price tag on it. I told him where to go and mentioned it was free to your store in the first place. The item I thought was only worth $80-$90 so he wanted top price. I've found the odd good deal but am way more choosy now. I can shop on 30% off Tuesdays as my husband is a senior so I just give him what I want to buy to get the discount lol.

Just to clear something up. Not all things are donated. A lot of their clothes and media are purchased from diabetes canada for 12 cents a pound or something like that. So when they try to sell you a ripped hoodie for 15 dollars and say "we paid for that" tell them "it cost the company 5 cents you shifty weasel". I can not stand when VV tries to sell something for the same price as a video game store but will not offer a return or even tested to see if it worked. If you see case items gone after a couple of days that was priced very high. That is because an employee as bought the item for half price. I know in my local store, the worker was pricing video games at or above ebay just so the little snake could buy it 2 days later for half price. Now the company here ships out all media to a central location to be priced and then sent back among 5 stores that participate. Some kids books are 12 dollars. Titanic on vhs is 10 dollars. cds, cassette tapes, vhs, albums can be behind the glass in the showcase. All because some computer system is scanning the front cover and looking for ebay prices. The lady who puts out media is embarrassed at times. She had to put will and grace season 1 2 and 3 in the case for 25 dollars a season. She even told the manager that it had to be a mistake. Gremlins on beta for 30 dollars. With rips and black marker written across the front. I collect vhs and beta. She told me that they used to throw away about 55% of vhs when they were 1.99. Now that they range from 3 to 50 dollars, they throw away over 85%.

You are wrong.....value village buys huge amounts of merchandise from various charitable collectors such as Diabetes Association and others. They are a for-profit organisation, and while they are second hand....they have no commitment to philanthropy at all....so don't expect them to act like a charity.
