I visited the Pamunkey Indian Museum and Cultural Center in July of 2022. This museum covers 12,000 years of the Pamunkey Indian Tribe’s history. I also visited the grave of Powhatan. The Pamunkey Indian Reservation is located in King William County, Virginia.

There are stories in my family that our ancestry is deeply rooted in the Pamunkey Tribe. I went to the reservation when I was really really little, and my cousins have gone recently... I would love to find out whether or not these stories and trace my lineage to back then, but records weren't always kept up with as far as blacks and natives go. I can only trace back 5 generations 🥺.

My family ( on my mom's side ) traces back to the Pamunkey people ( amongst other peoples.) If your family are Adkins from Charles City like mine, then you definitely have Pamunkey roots, and we were able to trace back to the 1750s. One of my cousins worked on the geneology report and provided us with a copy around 2010.

I’ve traced mines back as well said my 10th grand was a chief . Im planning on doing my application once they’re accepting them again.

According to my family lines I have been able to trace, I am a descendant of one of Chief Powhatan's other children. I would love to visit and do more digging to be certain of that.

@@HistoricForrest yes, I drive down every year, I’m on the stewart side of the Pamunkey Indians, there is also the Allmonds, Cook, Stewart, Bradby, and Collins, along with others but those are main ones

My great grandmother was full blooded pamunkey and a very devout Methodist Christian.. she loved Jesus more then anything else and was basically my dads second mother.. I miss her everyday.. she passed in 2004 from liver cancer at the age of 88.. rip grandma Maggie..
