Visiting Tokyo’s “Little Europe”, Jiyugaoka | Solo Travel Japan Vlog

Tokyo is a city full of unique neighbourhoods, that each have their own individual personalities, vibe and aesthetic. In today's video, I took a trip to Jiyugaoka, one of the trendiest areas in Meguro, which is known as Tokyo's "Little Europe"!
There I visited the Peter Rabbit Cafe, which is probably the cutest themed cafe I've ever been to in Japan, and pop into Jiyugaoka's super photogenic La Vita - a mini replica of Venice!
AAAAAAND as you'll soon find out, there was a little bit of drama in this video... RIP cam!!

I loved Peter Rabbit as well, I read the story hundreds of times before bed, knew all the words before I could read and watched the movie countless times too. I remember refusing to eat anything else other than butter on toast for such a long time! 😂

Another tip since you are were in Daimaru, is after 7:00pm or so in the prepared food section of the depachika, prices are marked down a lot to get rid of the day's supply. I've been able to find dinner there for less than what I would normally pay.

I was hoping to actually include that tip in the video, but due to timing I could only arrive at Daimaru at 6:30pm, so I just missed the sale start! But yes, 100% their night time deals are so so good!

Many moons ago we had a Daimaru in Melbourne, I always feel nostalgic when I walk through Daimaru in Japan :) Also there's a beautiful vegan restaurant in Jiyugaoka which is why I regularly visit. Lovely little suburb that feels so distinct from other parts of Tokyo

@@hijessicaanne it's T's Restaurant. They have fast food restaurants also serving vegan ramen at Tokyo station, Ueno station and Narita airport. I'm at Melbourbe airport now and can't wait to get fat! :)

I am pretty sure we used to have a Daimaru in Australia? My grandparents used to live in Victoria when I was little, and my grandmother would talk about Daimaru

We did! My parents told me the same thing!! Apparently it was similar to what David Jones is now.

@@hijessicaanne I always wanted to go there! Lol maybe my grandmother took me there but I just don't remember. Probably would have been a pale comparison compared to the Daimaru in Tokyo though, kind of like how Daiso Australia is pale compared to Japan 🙊

Is it easy to get around Japan when you only speak English?

In the major cities, it's no problem :) Most signs, maps and menus have English, but I definitely recommend learning some basic phrases if possible - they'll definitely make the trip richer!
