Thank you for showing this. I love Dracula. I am 66 and disabled. I will never get to go there myself . This is my favorite video of yours 💗💗💗

Morbid fact about that graveyard: the cliffs are a bit crumbly in that area of coast, and there's been a few occasions after heavy rain has caused a bit of subsidence, that grave contents near the edge of the graveyard have worked themselves out and dropped into the back gardens of the houses down below. Hello Mr 200 Year Old Fisherman, pleased to meet ya!,

If you're going to go this far into Dracula, don't ignore the Romanian portion of the tale. There's the tourist Dracula's Castle (Bran Castle) but there's also the castle ruins where Vlad the impaler actually lived. If you think 199 steps is difficult to climb, try the 1500 that it will take you to get to the real Dracula's Castle. It's called Cetatea Poenari. That was Vlad the Impaler's actual castle. It's a bitch to get up to but it's well worth it. I've been there three times. I think it's currently under renovation but it's well worth the effort. They don't do a good job of updating the current accessibility so you would have to call the hotel that's closest to it to find whether or not it's accessible at the moment.

That water filled grave, was the very one I laid in years ago joking about with my Dad. Whitby has always been my soul home. I’m currently trying to move there. A promise I made to myself when I was 18. I’m now 49. Life happens. I can’t wait to see the glee in the eyes of both of you, when you see her at night. If you can. Take the chance while others sleep. While the pubs are closed. That’s when the real spirits come out. 👍👏👏❤️❤️❤️

Don't you know seagulls always say 'mine! mine!'. I heard a rumour say that the very first inspiration for Dracula that Bram Stoker had was when he saw the devils eyes in the Abbey, as the sun sets from a certain angle in summer, as it vanishes behind the abbey it shines through a particular window frame making it look like a pair of glaring red eyes.

My 5th great grandfather made those railings on the 199 steps back in the day! I was in Whitby over Halloween, where they light up the abbey and do Dracula plays at the top. Trying to get back down them in the dark is deadly 💀 So glad you made it here!

It's wonderful visiting places that inspired novels. Walking through the streets, pointing out certain details (where the black dog ran between the houses and then finally to the steps), even though it never happened...it did...in all of our minds when reading the book. The book literally comes alive when visiting there. Truly amazing.

I don't know your name at the moment but I'm going to subscribe to your channel and continuously look for new videos from you. You've done a stellar job on this video my friend, I know the work involved to get to this level, you made it look smooth and easy I would not be surprised to hear that you've been to film academy. Hi, I absolutely love your videos and came across this one, I visit whitby with my parents. We loved it there such a lovely town but we didn't walk up those steps we took a tour bus to the abby but we did walk down those steps though and was very busy when we went the Abby is beautiful, I also notice they had a dracula tour that night we stayed but unfortunately I didn't go on it which is a shame we also went on a pirate boat there too. Would love to go back 😊

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned but St Mary's churchyard was also used in the music video for Simply Red's song Holding back the years. Bit of useless information there. I have walked up and down those steps a few times. Great video guys 👍🏻

I live about an hours drive away from Whitby, fantastic place to visit, all year round and at all times day or night.

Wow, definitely one of your best vids in my opinion. The graveyard was so fascinating I had to do more research. Thanks for taking us along.

I'm so, so glad you went to Whitby. I love the place, and have had about 20 holidays there, many staying in the very crooked house on Henrietta Street (before new owners stopped renting it out as a holiday home). It's my dream to live there one day, maybe in retirement, surrounded by rescue dogs, walking them on the beach. I'm convinced it's my spiritual home! Sooooo glad you went there.

One of my favourite videos you've done, guys! You couldn't have picked a better day to visit. The ship and black dogs appearing in the background whilst you talked about the Dracula hound departing from the Demeter was perfect. The filming crew around the church added an extra layer of excitement. Those beautiful friendly horses welcoming you was so sweet and interjected a bit of lightheartedness amongst the dark, gothic nature of your surroundings - the fact they were scratching their bums was so funny and of course, they were black, in keeping with the gothic theme. The coffin benches couldn't have been a more ideal tidbit of trivia to accompany GrimmLifeCollective as you ascended the stairs to the church and Abbey. The rather ominous but also tragic Saxon baby coffin. The gorgeous personalised gifts you got from the souvenir shop. And so much more. Thankyou for filming such an in depth tour of one of the greatest horror locations in the world. I have loved your tour of our UK shores and sincerely hope this isn't your last time filming here 😊

I love that you are seeing the world. My life has always had Dracula in so many important times that life without him would just be empty, Happy Halloween!

I spent most of my childhood wishing I could go to Whitby - this was because I read a book called Room 13 by Robert Swindells (it is a Dracula story of sorts). I finally got to go there in 2018 and I loved every second of it and didn't want to go home! It was everything I had dreamed it would be. We were even fortunate to experience a sea fret in the middle of the week. I had planned the timing of the trip in the hopes of seeing one! I am so glad you guys got to go there too :)
