Dr. Love 1987 Looked it up, there was damage to the oval from it and the 2011 race was run on the road course. Track is still open which means it was probably repaired
I had no idea that they repaved Gateway until after the Pocono race because the last time a series raced at Gateway which was the Truck series, it wasn't repaved.
A few IndyCars tested after the truck race and the rough surface was tearing up tires. The track said they planned on a repave for fall but decided to move it up before this race. The drivers seem to like the smoothness. Hopefully we see a good race. I am trying to make it there.
Hopefully next year indycar will fix the aero balance and make them lift big time in the corners. This almost flat out racing here and Phoenix is ridiculous
