Il Castello Visconteo di Pavia fu costruito per volontà di Galeazzo II Visconti tra il 1360 e il 1365.
Il percorso di visita si svolge all’interno di sale che ancora conservano preziosi affreschi di età viscontea e sforzesca. Pur essendo deprivato dell’ala settentrionale con la quale la residenza ducale si affacciava sul Parco, congiungendosi così alla Certosa, il Castello mantiene intatta la suggestiva armonia del capolavoro, tra i più insigni dell’architettura tardogotica lombarda.
Il Castello Visconteo di Pavia è visitabile negli orari di apertura dei Musei Civici. Per l'ingresso al cortile, al porticato e al loggiato è previsto un biglietto da 1 euro (5 euro durante particolari installazioni). Le sale del Castello ospitano invece le collezioni museali: vi si accede con il biglietto dei Musei Civici.
