As a Pakistani I'm very happy to see Indians playing so well at the highest level in chess. I followed the event closely I watched agadmators commentary on each match.....I was actually rooting for Pragg and he had his moments, but Gukesh played excellent chess throughout the tournament. Congratulations to him and to indian chess fans!

So, a bit of history for people who came to chess recently. This is not new in Chess. So the strongest country by far has been Russia because they have produced so many good players. There is something called the Russian school of chess. But that was started by a Russian world champion called Mikhail Botvinnik. All the famous Russian chess players you know are products of that school. He personally taught and when he got old, the new players taught. Anand is the patriarch of the Indian school of chess, and Gukesh winning this has stamped the authority of WACA in the world chess scene. Kudos to Vishy sir. He has done something that very few players can do. Make a difference in the world. Even Magnus hasn't been able to bring a chess revolution in Norway, despite being a really strong player.

The fact that there is a group of players that inspire and challange each other speaks for India. In 1989-and for a few years Sweden managed to break the chineese tabletennis dominance. Whith the same concept, we had 5 players in the top 20. We won three world-team champioships in a row and two individual gold medals and also olympic gold medal. If the indian players work together they have a chance to dominate chess in the future.

But jumbling the name of the current World Chess Champion is so poor and hilarious at the same time it is getting ridiculous. Maybe its the Euphoria of an Indian winning the Candidates but guys pls do some research, become familiar with the sport and pls assign anchoring to sports journalists who are really passionate about sports in India while doing live interviews and not some random journalist who doesn't know about sports in general.
