with only 20% on the stereo spread there won't really be any mono comp issues. the detuning may make the fundamental less stable, but with the distortion and compression that isn't a problem, the instability is also what adds extra movement.
Cardboard Cube is just a sine. Go to the wave editor and play around with it a bit. I can swear that I accidentally made a very similar looking wave while doing some very shallow experimentation with it for about 5mins just to see what the editor is capable of.
When you go throw making a sound do you do any post processing in the background? I follow along exactly and my patches never sound the same. Any ideas for why would be appreciated.
