Viva Raw has a NEW protein for cats 

Yes I am aware of pet food recalls. This is why my #1 suggestion will ALWAYS be homemade cat food. I only make these videos because people ask me for commercial options. So why homemade? Because you have more control over the ingredients and how it's made. Sure, it takes more time. But I prefer to take that extra time to avoid worrying about recalls. That's exactly what pushed me to go with homemade cat food back in 2018/2019. The first raw cat food brand Jericho had was called RadCat. It was great - lots of protein variety, whole food ingredients, small batch company... Loved it until the FDA forced a recall and the business closed down. Then I had to scramble to find a new raw cat food. And there were not as many options back then! The next brand I found only had 2 protein options and lots of synthetic supplements. And guess what? They don't make cat food anymore either! Homemade cat food gives you way more control over your cat's diet. And now I'm switching Jericho to a whole prey diet (as of July 2024). So my content moving forward will reflect that. I never actually defrost mine until it's time to eat. There is no waste, and nothing sits in my refrigerator for more than 24 hours. I rotate proteins every day for variety. The Viva Raw website has a calculator with age, breed and activity levels to generate a daily diet amount. I get 14 lbs every 4 weeks for my Maine Coon girl (8oz a day). It shows up at my door frozen rock-solid (even if it were not, it's vacuum sealed so it can be refrozen). I take out 2 lbs and defrost just long enough to get a sharp knife through it (half an hour or so, still rock solid in the middle). I cut both packages into 2 8-ounce blocks, then each block is divided into 3 meals, and pop 3 meals into a freezer container; one container goes into the fridge for tomorrow's meals, and the rest goes back into the freezer. I shift one container from the freezer to the fridge every evening for an overnight gentle defrost, and my girl gets 3 fresh meals daily. The whole process takes me about 10 minutes every 4th day.
