Years ago when she was still a child she played this very same piece on a German TV show for children. I found it so beautiful and inspiring that I got the sheet music and practiced it on the flute myself for several years. Now this video comes up on my feed and it's nice to see her returning to what, to me, are her roots, as a young, successful professional.
I changed from recorder to piano when I was 12, because I thought a recorder was childish. I’m 19 now and still love to play the piano, but after looking at this I think I’m gonna pick up my recorder again🌸❤️
my advice, don't use your school one, that is not well made. get one of those black recorders for like 20€ or so instead of a 5 or 9€ the difference in sound is HUGE and the difference in price is not that much. I learned to play well by more of by trying to play pieces I liked l. you can do it too!
@@malahamavet You re totally right! A good flûte is necessary (but not tout expensive espescially for a beginner) ,if you like playing you-ll enjoy a lot ( I am a recorder player)
This instrument is not that easy to master. I have one made by the Mollenhauer company in Germany that is north of $150. When I play it still sounds like a tea kettle but Lucie shows us what is possible.
This incredible lady plays so generous, with such deep understanding of the music. Playing the recorder with such a perfect sense for intonation requires years of hard study. I loved watching the video where Lucie played together with her father. Interesting to see how people on that level still put musical joy on the first place. A sign of genuine greatness. Deep respect for this musical family.
As a little Dutch kid I listened to classical music records, my favorite: Vivaldi's recorder concert played by Frans Brüggen. I practiced a lot on my school recorder, tried to imitate Brüggen, didn't come close but close enough to play Vivaldi's music and to admire Brüggen's talent even more. Lucie Horsch is not only Brüggen's match, she adds her own subtle personal touch well within the Baroque music boundary, I am deeply moved by her play.
So young and so talented. I'm not an expert, I woudn't be able to pick up technique problems if there were any, but I like her sound, she's expressive even in the virtuoso moments.
Her problem isn't technique, it's the same problem that Michaela Petri has. She makes the recorder boring. There is zero musicality happening, no dynamics, no variance in sound and tone. It's just a festival of fast notes that go nowhere.
jay w Yes I agree, as a classical trained bassoonist we are told Vibrato and dynamical phrasing is top priority. With exception to tonality, there is not phrasing in any of the passages. And the fact that I dont hear nearly as much vibrato as there should be is rather disappointing. Her tonality is good but there could be more done. But overall great performance!
@@samueltaylor6861 I think both you and jay w are victims of a misunderstanding or even a cultural bias. Dynamics are conveyed very differently in a recorder and you can't compare modern instruments and modern techniques to those of what was and remains a baroque instrument. The same goes for phrasing. A musician needs to practice but there is also talent. A talented individual who doesn't practice will go nowhere with music, but an individual who practice to death but is without talent will, at best, play second parts in an orchestra. Which is respectable, of course, but like any non artistic job would be.
It has been around for a few hundred years and been written for by an endless list of the world's most famous composers. It's basically what was used orchestrally before the baroque flute was developed. Too bad most people are ignorant of its abilities.
Believe me, as someone who has been playing the recorder for 11 years I still hear so many people not taking the instrument seriously at all. It has gotten to the point where I don‘t like telling people what instrument I play because they always say stupid things about it.
@Pandawa Twoset kind of roasted the recorder. I just mean to clarify that she seems very nice and did not participate in internet roasting. It's a defend for her rather than a correction of the comment.
Absolutely, no doubt the best flute performance. She makes this simple instrument sounds magic. So talented, skilled and virtuous lady or youngirl. Please more.
Such beautiful melodic lines that rise and fall as the piece is performed. Very lovely thank you for sharing this ear pleasing piece of music with us on your recorder. Wonderful selection with us.
Ah, Lucie, a great soul playing a kid's toy to perfection. Wonderful! As is her beautiful dress and her sublime body, what a gift! And with a music from a man, who lived how many years ago? 300? And all gathered either to play it in concert or listen to it, and even the listeners on this channel can tune into this amazing spectacle.
Hallo liebe Lucie ! Hab dich lieb
being an amateur musician since my adolescence (classical piano for 4 years) then blues rock guitar for years, I am impressed by the perfect sound with a recorder (considered by many college students as an instrument of torture !!!!!. Well done to Lucie Patrick Montpellier
Personally i think she absolutely nailed Vivaldi’s style in this. So many people can play his music well, but not many get it quite right! Given that a very large chunk of his musical career was composing for Girls and his music was played by girls. This carry’s his style really well. The long notes are long, and the short notes are beautifully short. Love it!
Almost a cure for the flashbacks we all have to "3 Blind Mice" approximated on a plastic recorder at school... Beautiful. In the right hands (and mouth) it really is a sublime instrument.
Que coisa mais linda! Maravilhoso demais!!! Maravilhoso!!!

She has to be the best recorder player in the world. It just reminds me of primary school where the whole class was playing the same piece in different tempos. She's great ❤
