I can't imagine what kind of uncouth person would vote this down. This was one of my favorite pieces of music when I was a teenager, and I hadn't heard it in ages. Ms. Sara Mingardo has a voice that brought me to tears, she has the voice of an angel, the whole production, the voices, the orchestra, all of it was superb. You fed my soul, thank you.
SerendipitousSojourn Many opinions exist on how to interpret and perform music; I would not resort to naming anyone 'uncouth' for it, as that may be uncouth. (It's a lovely performance.)
SerendipitousSojourn I think that some people find the tempo too fast, so the thumbs down was not for the music but for the performance. Personally, I like the faster tempi! 😃
A lot of strange and tasteless people hate anything historically authentic, they prefer their Vivaldi and Handel sung like it's Wagner. They especially hate 18th century vocal technique.
I guess the thumbs down are from people who need glasses but don't wear them. Surely they thought they were selecting the thumbs up, as it the natural option....
Just Beautiful! I always had so much fun performing this on the cello and violin with my various orchestras over the years,. I hope we never lose these great classics. Because once they are dead and gone, so are we as a people. :-(

I remember how Baroque music had a revival in the early 1960s and now, with such directors and performers, it is having a splendid renaissance. This more complete version of the Gloria is very welcome. I greatly admire Alessandrini as an interpreter of the music and of course I worship Sara Mingardo.

Mai sentita una così strabiliante interpretazione del Gloria! Davvero il genio del Prete Rosso è qui espresso oltre l'oltre! L'intensità in alcuni momenti (negli andanti) è pazzesca, cosa dire? Anche i due movimenti del 588 sono due perle straordinarie! Ammetto: mi sono commosso profondamente. Le soluzioni del regista hanno aiutato ad entrare nel Capolavoro. Grandi tutti!
