Trump is too egotistical and unpredictable. Vivek is a outspoken libertarian at heart and would have challenged and clashed with Trump on a host of policy issues. Trump respects his caliber and brilliance, but It is best that Vivek keeps a distance from Trump .. just be an independent adviser. Vivek 2028 will challenge his law school buddy JD Vance as an outsider.

Their pathetic and useless approach to the subject makes me think they are not really serious, but merely hooligans. There are manmade environmental changes that impact climate such as the hardscaping of a landmass the size of the US over the last twenty years. In replacing forests and grasslands with pavement and rooftops, we have lost the moderating effect of vegetation on temperature extremes. This is where it becomes challenging, balancing the need for development and the benefits of vegetative landscape. Intelligent and thoughtful discussions need to be encouraged, but I fear none of these protestors are intellectually equipped or motivated for this more difficult policy debate. It is much easier to sing slogans and perform theatrics.

No, he was not offered, and that would work out to Vivek's advantage. Trump is too egotistical and unpredictable, and Vivek would have challenged and clashed with him. He is doubtful to be included in Trump's cabinet. Truth be told, Trump respects his caliber, but Trump's Christian conservative base and the Republican lawmakers inside the deep state would not accept a truthful and outspoken dark skinned Hindu.

Man, I don't even agree with VR on an absolute ton, but I haven't been so thrilled about a guy with his influence talking about these issues that neither party will mention. I've heard Vivek talk about these same issues for over a year now, and I don't get tired of it. I'm glad he's been this consistent about shutting the bureaucracy down.

The leviathan nanny state didn't arise only from Great Society liberalism and the Great Depression. It was also built by the desperate measures taken to not lose WWII and then the Cold War. There were existential reasons for building a dominant military and a superlative defense industrial complex. We should take care to review those reasons before cutting our existential throat.

Reducing the bureaucracy would go a long way in reducing the control of government, but it would do very little to reduce the spending of government. Entitlements and military are the big brothers of government spending

I agree with Vivek on most points. But we once had "usury laws", which said you could not charge more than 12% on a loan. This was it was believed more than that could not be paid back by the average person. I agreed with that.

Regan called it the paperwork reduction act trying to get rid of redundancy. There was an independent office of HUD for residential lending etc and they were in every major city and so they shut them all down . They gave the authority of HUD over to the lenders in most ways. I could name them. The regs didn’t change they just shoved the accountability to the lenders. Then you had to self report . I could keep going. Now there are 4 large HUD centers and they are growing . After that in previous years you could call and get guidance if you really meant to be ethical but that went away.

The Entitlement state is the sticky bit. How many Social Security accounts would need closed out properly? I calculated what I paid into that fund. Every 5 years I calculated the average returns from blue chip stocks on that 5 years paid in..... I would be a multi-millionaire if I had been allowed to make my money work for me and probably more as I moved out of my "Work my muscles" phase and into the "Brain Work" phase where I could semi-retire and get my own trading licenses and done my own trading.

It is time to retool our industrial revolution and cold war adapted government back into the government the constitution actually envisaged. We no longer have to be as concentrated in population to make things work as we had to be in the past. The internet, power, and logistics will allow a return to the Pioneer/ Entrepeneur roots that made us so great while diluting out the political power.

There are some key agencies that need to be gone. ATF, NEA, Maybe FBI to start. Several others need reined in hard, CIA, IRS, DHS, EPA, ICC, HUD. Others need to to be streamlined hard due to a build up of "Administrative Logic" to justify budget share.... DOD and Various welfare....

I like Vivek, but his money comes out of the Pharmaceutical Sector of the economy. I like the logic he uses and his smaller government platform. I would like to hear more of his views and reasoning when it come to the FDA... I keep a skeptical eye on him for all of his good noise.

I cannot remember hearing his opinion on the FDA as of yet, but it would be interesting to hear. Considering he is/was in the industry where the FDA is inspecting/auditing his company, (and could shut them down if they really wanted to).

You can't just have manufacturing plants popping up without a care for the safety of the products. Would be interesting to hear Viveks idea on what to replace the FDA with.
