This guy is my favourite reviewer, all the really big ones have sold out. He seems like a guy you could have a beer with but it's also very knowledgeable and focuses on the features that I find most interesting. Would love to see more of the humanistic mode!

Why is nobody mentioning in any X100 Ultra review that you now can change brightness, contrast, sharpness and saturation with a button directly in automatic mode. It is such an important thing, as people in some reviews were complaining about photos being slightly oversharpened or a bit to bright, but as you can change that so easily and it will keep the settings that way if you want, it is even better, bc like that it gets perfect for every person no matter what style somebody prefers. Also in general different situation sometimes need different settings, so even if you like the default look, if you really care about your photos you still might want something different in some situations. On all the other phones you can't change these settings except for brightness which means you have to edit them afterwards on your phone or on the computer. But if a photo is oversharpened you can't really change that afterwards, at least not directly on the phone. So I think it's mega important to talk about that feature and I've only seen one photographer with a relatively small RU-vid channel who did mention that in his review of the X100 Ultra

Great video, Ben. As always! I'm writing from my X100 Ultra, best camera phone ever created, period. I am one of those who upgraded from the X100 Pro to the Ultra, and I would say it was totally worth. Here's a list of the upgrades you can expect: -Better screen: the bump in resolution is actually very noticeable, and the brightness under direct sunlight has been raised -Better fingerprint sensor: this one is ultrasonic and it is better positioned (the Pro was optical and positioned too low) -Better speakers: a proper stereo speakers setup, with good volume and way more bass than the ones on the Pro, which sounds quite bad -Better mobile signal reception -Better front camera: the front camera on the Pro doesn't have autofocus, the one on the Ultra does. The subsequent bump in quality and sharpness is really noticeable, but sometimes the photos come up a little overshapened. This brings me to the next point. -Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 allows you to install GCam, which basically fix the oversharpened selfie photos. You could install GCam on the Pro, but since it had a Mediatek processor, the compatibility was meh and it was pretty impossible to make the front camera work. -Wider ultrawide: as Ben said, the ultrawide photos are good but on par with the Pro, but the slightly wider field of view helps a lot -Better telephoto lens: Ben said it all, no need to add anything, I'll just say that it can produce mirrorless-like photos like any other smartphone on the market. Every photo is just jawdropping. -New photo modes: Humanistic Street Photography mode, Stage mode, Underwater mode. Street Photography + new black and white color mode = chef's kiss! -Better hair cutout in Portrait Mode -New video modes: LOG recording on the main sensor in Pro mode, 4k 120fps one the main and telephoto sensor (3,7x 4k 120fps slow motion footage is pure cinema) Things that got a little worse: -Battery charging power went down from 100W to 80W (wired) and from 50W to 30W (wireless). To me it's not a problem, since I always charge the phone at max 25W to prevent overheating and battery degradation. Things that could be improved in general: -Battery life is really good but to me could get even better with updates -Dynamic range on front camera videos is not great, the sky is often clipped -Night skies are very bright and tend to be very blue. I like it but it would be perfect if they added a toggle to switch between realistic dark sky and enhanced blue sky (there is a toggle in the Settings, but it does not make any difference) If you have any questions, feel free to ask. EDIT: I've found a way to get rid of the oversharpening in selfies! Just shoot in Night Mode, even if you're shooting during the day. It solves the problem, the selfies come out astonishing.

I'm disappointed the X100 pro didn't get a humanistic camera update

I don't know but I don't like the X100U's cameras, sometimes the HDR isn't the best, the colors aren't natural, the texture isn't the best either... but the zoom at night also sometimes has difficulties and there's noise but I I like the style of the Xiaomi 14U more because of Leica... that's why I prefer Xiaomi over Vivo

Great overview about the camera of the x100 Ultra. I'm in the moment contemplating to get one.. I often shoot lots of video in some really dim lighting (Outside in the moonlight for instance) And next to my Sony camera’s I like to have a phone with me for use. Right now I have the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. And in Pro Video modus it gives me great lowlight results, (much better than the standard video/night mode) In Pro Video mode I can go up to ISO 32.000 in 4K, and it is pretty amazing what I can see. (In Pro modus I set ISO to auto, but manual shutter to 1/24 and than turn up the EV to like + 4.0.. then I switch to Night Video and back into Pro Video mode.. and there (when it is dark enough, the ISO kicks up all the way to 32.000..! (And I can change shutterspeed all the way down to 1/8th sec. --No idea if it is a bug, but I actually like it, and when I then turn on Log... I can really up it even more :) Now it’s not for action shots, (more like stable on tripod or slow walking. But what I am trying to figure out is if the Vivo x100 Ultra (which has a 4k 30 fps night video function that really pushes the exposure insanely high), if it is actually better?--I know it's only usable in stable (none panning shots), but how high does it go? And in Pro video modus can the x100 Ultra also go higher than the max 12.800 ISO.. ? Like when setting auto ISO but shutter manually to 1/24 and than turn up the EV to like + 4.0.. --Does the auto ISO also go higher than 12.800 ISO? ... Sorry for the long question, ..but am really trying to figure this one out... before taking the plunge to the x100 Ultra :) Thx in advance.

Nobody is mentioning that the x100 ultra can shoot real stereoscopic. Not the best quality, but photos are quite nice.

Now this is a review 👀👏🏻 And yes if you have the Pro, the Ultra isn't a big upgrade over it. Still a good upgrade. What do you think about Origin OS for global usage tho? I heard from the Average Dad YT that Origin OS feels more like a global OS even without it's China exclusivity. Is there any downsides or issues if we want to import the Ultra and use it daily?

Ithing the main camera the need a combination of In Sensor Stabilizator or normal OIS+EIS, meanwhile the UW and the Tele need a Gimbal for a better Photos and videos at night, i remember the X70 Pro+ with thr Gimbal on the UW, that was and still is the best UW for videos and photos at night AND in movement special, Vivo need to bring that again.

Somehow I like more the color tone of Xiaomi more. Im using Xiaomi fold 3 a lot, using its back cam to shoot selfie and vertical videos. Human faces look really good.. somehow that Leica camera style suits me better than Vivo. Vivo used to be very good with selfies, but nowadays, the skin tend to look too much refined and light.

Too many people STILL don't know the difference between HBM brightness and Peak brightness. Vivo X100 Ultra has 3,000 nits of Peak brightness for HDR content. That's NOT 3,000 nits for outdoors in the Sun. Example: S24 Ultra has 1,500 nits of HBM brightness outdoors in the sun and 2,600 nits of Peak brightness for watching HDR content.

Why do you never mention Oppo Find X7 Ultra when you compare with other flagships?

Can u tell me your setting for Motion Focus? I dont know whats better, on or off? With on tracking the Eye of one Person and off it can detecte more Faces.... I think the vivo x100 ultra is only sold in China because these are Samsung's conditions. Think about why. A similar story happens with Honor magic 6 pro - they installed a 180mp matrix from Samsung, but reduced the magnification of the optics and now their telephoto is very weak.

Actually, just ordered the Ultra on wondamobile 2 days ago. I was deciding between the Vivo x100 Ultra, Vivo x100 Pro and the Oppo Find X7 Ultra. Ultimately went with this one and your review definitely makes me feel like i made the right decision. Such beautiful shots you took. Kinda sucks that here in America everyone is blinded by Apple, Samsung and Google to not see what else is truly out there. China is honestly the king of smartphones and it’s not even close.

Does the Vivo X100 Ultra 'Origin OS' have the "MULTIPLE USERS" feature that the X100 Pro 'Funtouch OS' has! Could you please confirm that? In case you don't know what the Multiple Users feature is: The Multiple Users feature allows a phone user to create several spaces (usually 5 spaces maximum including the Guest space) in the phone and enables users to download, install and change different settings, media (photos and videos), data and games in each created space. Every single space can be accessed through a fingerprint and password or a pin!

It's overheating n battery draining really fast

I think no one talks about this yet, but coming from vivo x100 pro last month and have the ultra now, the autofocus on the new telephoto lens is faster especially when you shoot macro and longer zooms like airplanes than the pro. The pro is a hit or miss especially with plane shots and most of the time you need to tap to focus but it will be hard to track the plane while doing it. The 85mm is a better option for me when I use it for composing shots.

Its low light image quality is out of this world!

Incredible shots Ben, Vivo are now the Huawei of old! Back in the days of the P20 Pro/P30 Pro/Mate 20 Pro etc Huawei were so far ahead, I feel like Vivo are now in that position! I get my Ultra in 2 days and can't wait. I've already used the x100 Pro and loved it so im looking forward to going back to Vivo and this time the Ultra. Those telephoto shots are just UNMATCHED by anything else on the market.

Actually you can use tele lens to shot macro photos in Samsung too. I had some good shots of flies with Samsung note 8 and note 9.

I still use the x90 PRO PLUS, and will probably buy the x200 PRO / Ultra when it will come out. But I can say by comparing my x90 PP with my sisters Samsung s24 Ultra that the Vivo Photo Editing Software is better. I was really impresed by the Object Erase AI. It's miles ahead of what Samsung offers.

Seeing your review, I have very strong desire to buy this Vivo X100 Ultra phone for pure photo-taking and video shooting - a change of near-decision of buying a Xiaomi 14 Ultra, which put me in awe when I bumped into and compared in a nearby shop with my Samsung S24 Ultra. I was told this Vivo X100 Ultra phone in someone's phone review video that it is only available in (Mainland) Chinese version, is that true? If this is true, even though this is the best professional camera phone on earth, I have zero interest to buy it as my privacy and APP use right is not for sale. Hope someone can help me out, if and where I could find out a non-Mainland China version Vivo X100 Ultra phone to buy (if any), online or in physical shops either in Hong Kong, Vietnam or Thailand (places where I travel a lot in my work). About the battery - it's a major diffrence between X100 Ultra and X100 Pro, because of diffrent technology used in battery. X100 Pro has 5400mAh cap, with standard Li-Ion battery tech. X100 Ultra has slightly bigger capacity of 5500mAh, but... it is made with diffrent material: Si-C (silicon carbon), which can withstand a high temperatures and low temperatures and don't get damaged. That is huge diffrence, which means, that kind of Si-C battery will much slower degrade over time.

Arrghhh, im so on the fence, I've watched tonnes of reviews but i still can't decide between the cameras of Vivo x100 ultra, or oppo x7 ultra. I just want the best point and shoot camera that gives the brightest and most contrast colours. I don't want to fiddle around with settings. Point and shoot for photos and point and record for videos. Please help.... 😕
