Vivo X100 Ultra vs Xiaomi 14 Ultra Detailed Camera Comparison! 

Vivo is definitely visually more appealing, but you got to admire the Leica's colour science

I will say this I have Xiaomi 14U the photos are better than what is in the video but I don't like the colors of the X100 Ultra... for me Xiaomi 14U in certain photos it did better but I like Xiaomi more than Vivo You can even see that the X100U at night the colors are saturated, while the Xiaomi ones are more natural

Xiaomi looks like the photo is in raw and goes well and easy with editing. Id prefer that for sure

The reason vivo's photos look sharper is that over-sharpening and ai algorithm filling, at the cost of serious distortion (if you have a real camera to compare it with), you can try this processing in any image editing software, but for photo post-processing, over-sharpening the original film is a complete disaster

Brilliant review I try overcoming Xiaomi shortcomings with the following 1) Using GCam Mod ( GCam Apk software ) for darker situations to improve dynamic range and improving detail levels. The same applies to the extremely brightly lit situation / High dynamic range situations 2) I take most portrait shots in normal mode ( 3.2x , 5x )rather than dedicated portrait shots. I always reduce exposure levels by -0.7 to 1.0 EV. I have noticed that 35mm crop portraits in portrait mode is most reliable , as perhaps from the main sensor. 3) I use polariser / ND filter often to reduce glares and improve contrast, specially on flat shots of 3.2x , 5.0x 4) I use 50 MP mode for zoom shots where I need more details. Shooting in RAW with Leica High contrast Black and White filter improves post processing and dynamic range for 3.2 x and 5.0 x 5) The 3.2X / 75 mm lens is most acceptable for macroshots. 6) Video shooting with a DJI Gimbal is quite beneficial for videos. I prefer Dolby Vision output although limited to the main sensor. I guess shooting in log mode with post processing LUT application can give HDR. Adding a ND filter/ polariser helps here as well with contrast and reducing glares. Finally a question: Does 5x Zoom direct comparison on Vivo X 100 ultra feel a bit synthetic, rather than dedicated optical zoom on Xiaomi? The portrait shots looked more organic on Xiaomi although skin colours were too off. GCam Mod helps here as well , I think. So yeah Xiaomi currently is a bit inconsistent and needs more tweaks. Vivo is the better point and shoot.

Awesome video love the indepth details about each and their capabilities. Loving the detail pics with the x100..... Not sure in what instances a person uses 8k but I think it's unnecessary. Would love to see some panning shot with both. Keep up the awesome reviews

So hard to choose one between these two. Prefer the contrasty cinematic look of Xiaomi. But also like what Vivo does with Portraits & Night time photos. In terms of display & speakers which one feels better to you?

Vivo is more natural side & shadows & exposure is well balanced that's what we need in a smartphone,we didn't need any dramatic filters cuz we can edit that.

Thanks for the review. I own a Xiaomi 14 Ultra and use it for work photography. It takes great pictures. But I'm seriously tempted to purchase the Vivo X100 Ultra as I use the telephoto lens the most. It seems that Vivo has the best telephoto lens in the market. Also, the portraits of my 14U are very inconsistent as compared to the Xiaomi 13 Pro that I used to own before it.

for me i choose Xiaomi 14 Ultra because of its high details on image in all zoom lenses, even you picture peep the image igs crisp not over expose or over processed like vivo like other regular flagship, and the night should like night and not overprocessed but lot of noise, inconsistensy in color can be easily adjusted but the amount of detail cannot add up by editing tools, thanks man for this comparison, good job keep up the good work👌👌👌

Always choose detail over color or lighting. In difficult details as eg. bricks or plaster or even of course skin texture, you need detail, because detail cannot be corrected in photoshop for a photo you want to keep where lighting or colors can be adjusted. So yes the Vivo brights unnecessarily the scene but this can be fixed. From what I saw and seen from friend's X100 ultra, Vivo is a better choice in terms of photography and all around experience, apart perhaps from audio quality.

I would say that Vivo is the winner in almost all the pictures.

We should listen to the opinion of photography professionals, vivo shot without post-processing photos do look better, but in the hands of people who master photography skills, the xiaomi 14U can be comparable to a $1,500 professional camera

If u use leica vibrant, will the images look as bright as the ones on the Vivo?

I personally use 14 ultra I have high doubt with these outputs, it is actually hard for me to believe the edge detection issue in portrait mode which I saw in this video

I like Leica style vibrant vintage style, Zeiss is natural I can't decide i want to have both phone

i just use macro pictures on my xiaomi-14-ultra for my works. in gemstones world, pictures must be have natural color and texture and more detail (not just sharping edges with software) . xiaomi do it best.

Less saturation SOOC to me is no biggy to me as most photographers like to post edit. Good comparison. To get the vivo in the UK after importing it takes a bit of tinkering.

No idea if I missed any info on this in the review (apologies if I did😅), but I was wondering, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra has 50mp RAW on the main camera and 12mp RAW on the other 3 cameras. What are the RAW options and quality on the Vivo x100 Ultra..? I really love the RAW details I can get out of the Xiaomi 50mp RAW, but even the 12mp is rather nice, but I would hate to trade that in if the Vivo x100 Ultra RAW capability is worse..

Some shots look miles ahead on the xiaomi but some shots also fail terribly. For the vivo some shots look a bit flat to me but generally really stable performance. Wish they would update the software on the xiaomi really like the colors on some shots gives it a nice feel like you are really standing there

Main reason I perfer Xiaomi over other smartphones is due to their approach of Good contrasty photos. Of course there are issues with the overexposure and consistency but I am ready to make these sacrifices to get that look, This also makes me take 2-3 more shots so that I can be sure that I got the perfect look I really, really hope that Xiaomi fixes the consistency as that's the only thing stopping them from being the best smartphone camera I also like the soft details approach of Xiaomi, unlike smartphone photography which is known for software sharpening, the soft details resembles a more natural and dslr look. However, that doesn't mean that you should over soften the details, and not use the full potential of the sensor, which Xiaomi sometimes does.. Vivo, however has both the consistency and using the full capacity of the sensor I guess the perfect smartphone photography would be something between Xiaomi and Vivo Nonetheless, they are the best smartphones available for photography in the market

Loved your video, but in my personal opinion you should shoot portraits in RAW and not in that digital portrait mode that hides the true bokeh of the lens

Most importent for photography are always details and dynamic range, contrast is easily to ajust, therefore, it is very clear to see that Vivo is vastly superior compared to Xiaomi

Definitely vivo. Not just because in video (for instance at 15:45) I hate the artificial green on grass and trees of Xiaomi. In darker situations, while the vivo might get the darker area’s a bit too bright, it captures the details in lowlight and highlight areas better 9 out of 10 times. It looks better, maybe sometimes not the most natural exposure but it is possible to correct to your own taste upfront, even post processing. Lack of details, noise and wrong colors of Xiaomi are not or very hard recoverable. The real win, at the moment for Xiaomi, is with the front camera.

Very impressed with Vivo but can't buy it here in Ireland or UK, I think, and I believe they dont make a global version, so am forced to buy the xiaomi

Vivo win, end of discussion. You can take the Vivo photos and bump up the contrast a little bit to have the Xiaomi photos. The Xiaomi simply can not does the same, it does not have the detail the Vivo has.

Damn I preferred pretty much every single photo on the Xiaomi, Vivo has that typical HDR look (plus not the fan of oversharpening, sharpening is not detail).

The vivo looks stunning and near perfect compared to the xiaomi...but i still prefer the xiaomi over the vivo simply because the xiaomi images aren't clinically perfect, less digital, more filmic and hence have a certain character because of its imperfections...idk how to explain...its like an old dslr or film camera vs the latest sony mirrorless ..the sony is more clinical and sharp producing clinically pefect images while the old dslr/film camera having a moody character and an aesthetic vibe because of its flaws which to me makes a more stylised image... photography isnt all about sharpness or perfect dynamic range ...unless youre doing commercial work . ..its subjective...if youre looking for an artistic image...i feel xiaomi does better... Kudos to vivo for an amazing device though! And like always amazing work Jermaine...love the work and all the effort you put into all these videos of your's!

I have both.. Vivo wins nighttime easily in terms of detail retention (esp tele lenses), its not just adding sharpness, but actual detail. Every night shot here also show that, if you look close, sometimes very clear. Xiaomi should work on their stabilization i think, because this nighttime detail also applies to main lenses (tho to lesser degree than the tele lenses), which use same sensor... I like the handling and shooting experience with 14 ultra photo grip tho a lot.

Great comparison with some stunning shots, man! I'm trying my hardest to resist the temptation of buying a Vivo X100 Ultra but these videos are not making it any easier for me haha. I'm currently with an Oppo Find X7 Ultra but that 200MP tele is so tempting!!

Did you turn off enhanced night sky in the vivo? If you do, it will make the sky less blue.

I think vivo x100 ultra is too perfect for mobile photography. Too perfect here means double edged sword. Nothing wrong to be perfect, but its lack of character and artistic feels. Depend on the situation, if you like your photos being ready to use with everything boosted, x100 ultra here should be your pick, but if you want your photos have moody and artistic feels, has depth and special characters, i think xiaomi 14 ultra should serve you better.

Your sample videos look bad on both devices. Other bloggers have much better quality.

My mi 14 ultra rear Sony lenses struggle under low light condition

Jermaine this was such a great comparison man. I'd take the Xiaomi for the manual controls including the variable aperture but I'd take the Vivo overall. Two great phones fighting valiantly to capture our memories. We really can't lose these days. This has quickly become one of my favorite mobile photography channels.

I dislike the vivo's extreme HDR and over sharpening, sticking with my 14 ultra, I don't care if the images are more detailed if the detail itself doesn't look good

still prefer xiaomi, flat screen !!
