Vlad was one of the most brillant leaders in those days. I'm proud as a born Transsilvanyan, that he protected our land against the Islam. Maybe the Islam and it's culture would have spreeded over Eastern Europe without his tactics to defend our home. Maybe he was cruel, but that was just against his enemies who tried to capture our homeland and amount those, who didn't stick loyal to our homeland. Europe would need more leaders like him, to doesn't show interest in wars on the other side of the world, but who project their homeland.

I can't even try to describe ,what i feel listening and watching this video. I may be young and never been to war ,but this makes me feel like i m ready, to do whatever is needed for my country! Vlad Tepes is a TRUE national HERO ,while most of western Europe was busy "expanding" their empires ,he fought for as long as he could ( always outnumbered) the ottomans ,also at some point refused to pay their tribute as well... European history never teaches the young generation about this MAN (except for Romanian history books and teachers) It is said that he was in the end betrayed by the boyars and he was killed ,a legend says that he was decapitated and his head was sent to Istanbul as a trophy. But at least his people and his lands will be free! I hope his name will live through the centuries the name of a true HERO! Long live "Greater Romania " Peace out brothers and sisters!

The historical truth is that he was betrayed by some nobles and assassinated from behind with a spear. He was buried in the monastery on the island of Lake Snagov, which was looted by Greek monks in the 18th century, and his body has not been found since. The Turks never had the satisfaction you mentioned.

Vlad Tepes was a true nationalist and a forerunner to the idea of creating national states. But he also was genuinly convinced that islam was a true enemy of his national ideals since he had seen it from within in a turkish setting during his youth. There are some stupid rumours around that he was willing to side with Mehmet II. In fact he was set up by the Saxons but Corvinus understood this and saved the situation by taking him to Visegrad. Probably Dracula shared a lot of information with Corvinus on strategy and tactics during his time in house arrest. Then suddenly he was released as a military commander over an Hungarian army and opened hell on the turks once again.

When i was little i prayed to god too find the nosferatu movie. It was one of my first prayers As a child. Later that day my grandmother took me to a place where people throw stuff out they dont want anymore. I found on the table the nosferatu vhs movie tape. I got fixated with dracula and discovered the true historical account of him. Several weeks later my grandmother rented her house out to Romanian tenants. Than my father went on a cruise and met some romanians there who told him all about Dracula. I view dracula as sort of Samson. A real hero. My wife and I are going go to Romania and see his castle for our honeymoon. Respect too Romania from USA.

Mai scrii si in engleza, ca nah e la moda. Dar trebuie sa si vezi progresul Romaniei in 31 de ani. Dupa 50 de ani de comunism, daca sperai sa fie Elvetia deja, ai gresit filmul. Transylvania was for most of its history dominated by the Habsburgs, who were one of the most Catholic royal houses in Europe. It was thanks to this that the Aristocracy and Nobility of much of Romania remained under the control of Catholics. When this domain fell, Protestants invaded the country and the Orthodox Church did nothing to stop it. It is difficult to imagine Vlad being silent about this type of invasion.
