Organisers: This is an armageddon match. There is no increment Kramnik: I understand Organisers: It is highly likely there will be flagging Kramnik: Sure *Kramnik loses on time* Kramnik: WTF?!?!
Finally, a chess broadcast that gets it. 1) Great commentary. 2) Multiple camera angles with a clear view of the board. 3) Evaluation bar obscured. 4) Lighting/Ambience. 5) Players easily identifiable.
@@theonexx762you know that that’s what Armageddon is about? The whole idea is that there is no draw - one of the players wins, and for that you need no time increment or the game can be endless.
White needs to win the game. Black needs to draw or win the game. There's a decisive result with increment anyways. I agree that there needs to be more time pressure in an armageddon game, but I'd suggest something along the lines of +1 second for a move only if you have less than 5 seconds. Of course that's never gonna happen because chess organizers are old fashioned and don't have the game developer mindset, but it's something to dream about@@Shkiperkir
Kramnik please stop saying everything is cheating! If someone is genuinely good please admit it. Shake hands and put the pieces back and leave! Why would you cry as always when you lose?
Nodirbek placed all his pieces on exact squares without falling even at time scramble, i dont know what kramnik is complaining about. He literrally fall his king then put his pawn one square ahead.
stop stupid insinuations and find out why he was unhappy...nodirbek turned the clock into his side and Kramnik complained about it since he was unable to see properly the time and it made him less convenient to hit the clock
Hating on a rising youngster who probably looked up to you growing up and has definitely studied your games just because you lost a match which should mean nothing to you at this stage of your career is absolutely horrible. The way the smile on Nodirbek's face just faded as he saw this grown ass man throwing tantrums over getting flagged is just heartbreaking. I don't usually care about people like these but I hate Kramnik with all my heart. Mf makes everything personal with players who are doing their best in the name of "outing the cheaters" just because he's a sore loser. Just retire and enjoy life old man.
People like him are the reason i stopped over the board competitive play, i just couldnt stand these guys anymore, especially on club level, i even witnessed fights, old guys flipping out on youngsters, smugness, arrogance, being a sore loser is a generalised problem in club chess
Nodirbek won fair and square. If Kramnik doesn't like the rules, he shouldn't sign up for an armageddon tournament in the first place, and certainly not blame Nodirbek for beating him
@@AlesZvolanek yeah, so? Doesn't change anything. Chess players will behave however they want, but the rules are always there. You people are always looking for unimportant stuff to talk about in chess, from handshakes to facial expressions, and blow them out of proportion. Is the chess that boring to you?
I hate when players get into time scrambles and start knocking the pieces off the board and playing sloppily. There was a women's US championship where both players were doing that. The first person to do that and hit the clock should lose the game.
Games without increment should be played only by using computer screen. Games over the board should be played only with increment or delay in order to avoid things that happened in this game. During last 10 seconds of the game you can clearly see that both guys were violating rules by making move before opponent pressed the clock. Kramnik's falling/misplaced pieces made look this game not like chess game but like something else. Question - where was the arbiter? Again, the easiest solution to eliminate these things is to force players to play by using computer screen.
I've thought about this and eventually, begrudgingly, decided it's the correct idea. OTB time scrambles with 1 second increment or no increment are a mess. Always. If you insist on making armageddon like that they should play on computers so they can at least premove and avoid knocked over pieces and the whole fiasco that happens every time.
The real insult to injury is that it's a dead drawn position, and I think he was truly angry at nordi for simply playing it out and flagging him. I suppose he thought it was disrespectful; but what was he supposed to do, extend his hand out of respect for the legend? He's a competitor. He wants to win.
Yes, the Irina Krush vs. Anna Zatonskih US championship game was similar. Zatonskih was moving on Krush's time, the pieces got knocked off the board and they kept playing. Total arbiter fail.
Over the board games without increment are absolutely fine. Knocking over pieces on the board and not restoring them before pushing the clock should result in an immediate intervention by the arbiters. The problem is that the arbiters are not active enough.
using up your time is a gambit. you give time for longer calculation, and if you gamble too much it's your error in judgement. it's not a coincidence, especially with players this good.
The old guy in the glasses had a nervous breakdown. I hope he received the care and help he needed after leaving the premises. Have we heard from this man since?. Hope he is safe and well. God bless.
The production quality here is better than anything I’ve ever seen. Great commentary, and the format keeps things interesting even when no pieces are moving, because it’s exciting seeing the players stress and agonize over their decisions.
“Okay lets do the procedure” Im actually dying😂😭 The way kramnik just move and presses the clock at the same time at the end and doesn’t really accurately take turns. Basically no fks were given🤣🤣🤣
Kramnik is a dirty person. Nodirbek is only the age of his son/daughter, but Kramnik played dirty, lost, refused to shake hand, and raged against Nodirbek
I don't get why he is raging. First you take too much time avoiding mistakes so that your opponent doesn't win. Now when your opponent wants to win on time you start blaming opponents for flagging. Abdusttorov had to win one way or another.
I’m sure he wasn’t swearing at him or anything, but he was clearly complaining at the opponent when it ended, and stormed off without even handshaking him. Those kind of bad manners are unthinkable from a former world champion, take everything in context.
its hard for a great chess player like kramnik who dedicated his whole life to chess to leave the game for life qyite literally, it's unfortunate to see him in this state where he is quite grumpy and a mess when back then he used to take losses with a smile.
Vladímir Krámnik is 48 years old and look at what ridiculous and childish behavior because the game ended in a draw. Apparently this man has not matured that part over the years. A shame!
@@viharikrishnan5588 he hoped for a coup d'état in the US: "[I hope] the country will be taken over by the military-they'll close down all the synagogues, arrest all the Jews, execute hundreds of thousands of Jewish ringleaders." Nodirbek is probably the same age as Kramniks son or daughter. Kramnik could show being a senior and congratulate youngster but instead he was like a child. Nodirbek was much mature than Kramnik.
Comparing old players who lost to young players or children... I noticed that the most calm and accepting of loss is the great and historical player "Anatoly Karpov", followed by "Alexander Grishuk"... and "Vasil Ivanchuk"... Ivanchuk never gets angry, he is kind-hearted, but immediately after defeat, he becomes very sad, then he puts his hand on his head and starts talking to himself.... The most prominent person who is very sensitive to losing and gets extremely angry when he loses to a young or old player is "Gary Kasparov".
Kramnik was a world champion. But with age skills erode and newer younger players get better it has always been this way. Yes there are a few players who remained strong when they got older but that is the exception. If he's not being a sore loser he is accusing people of cheating, because how could they beat him any other way?
I would 100% agree with you. Indeed young generations are different they are much faster and they play different style. Nodirbek is probably the same age as Kramnik’s son/daughter, so Kramnik should have congratulated him and shake his hand. But Nodirbek looked more mature than Kramnik
That's why I don't like OTB bullet or blitz. It's just impossible to move the pieces accurately, it's just a mess. Classical and rapid are the best. Besides, chess was never meant to be a quick game anyway. But Kramnik can't be mad if he agreed to play such mode. He is still a brilliant player. Props.
Kramnik has always seemed like a gentleman. Blitz games used to be played as a form of casual "skittles" before or after a tournament, where there was no scoresheet, and the players would have fun and laugh at the mistakes, even their own. It used to be fun. Nowadays, however, they have "officialized" this skittles game into serious chess stakes, so that it's no laughing matter when you hang a piece or pawn or lose an equal or won game on time. Whenever I lose a rated slow game, I am not near as frustrated as when I lose a rated blitz game, because with the slow game, I usually have played better moves and I lost through some serious oversight I can learn from. With blitz, you lose and you learn nothing, and you resent the fact your opponent gets points because he capitalized on a silly mistake, instead of "outplaying" you.
Stop caring about blitz games? That's how I deal with it. I still play it for fun, but if I lose in blitz or bullet it's just whatever. No reason to care about a time format which induces loads of blunders and flagging.
Nodibrek didn't do something wrong, we won legitimately. If Kramnik didn't like to lose like that he shouldn't participate in this tournament. On the other hand I wonder why, in the digital era are being played games without increment. The ideal rules for an Armagedon game, in my opinion. is like this. White take 5 minutes with 2 seconds increment, black takes X minutes with 2 seconds increment and before the game the two players bid on the value of X. The player with the smaller bid takes the black pieces.
Why would black get penalised with 1 or more minutes less than the opponent? Or more realistically: how do they decide a tiebreaker when both players refuse to bid lower than 5 minutes?
@@ChatGPTacc1-kh8pb I know what game mode they’re playing in the video, and I’m asking about OP’s proposed alternate ruleset for the mode. What research do you want me to do other than ask clarifying questions from the only person in the world who uses this variation of the rules?
From what I remember Kramnik was a very calm and humble player. I remember games from few years ago where he would lose and he would smile and shake the opponents hand. No hard feelings. Now he complains about what? He dropped the piece not Nodirbek! Very sad to see him in this state...
@@chrismatheson4729 Read my comment again. I said he was humble when he lost, sometimes even would smile and shake the opponents hand with respect when getting check mated with beautiful patterns. Now he storms out like Nodirbek did something. When in reality they are both to blame.
@@goitidanielaser2167 I read your comment. My point was that it is easy to be humble when losing when you are mostly winning. Now, he loses frequently, and it clearly eats at him.
Blitz without an increment in otb shouldn't be a thing in 2023 anymore, not even in Armageddon. It just leads to confusion in mutual time trouble. There should always be enough time to make a move. Even one second increment would improve things dramatically
Since Kramnik was playing before digital clocks were used, when mechanical clocks didn't give you an increment, he's actually more experienced with this kind of time control. I suspect he was more upset at himself than anyone else.
It could definitely be seen as bad sportsmanship, but I can also see how frustrating an experience it must have been for Kramnik, having been among the top tier elite for so long and losing to a youngster. Still, there is no excuse for not graciously staking hands with your opponent and sincerely congratulating him. Maybe Kramnik has been studying with Dina Belenkaya.
All sports cause frustration, especially at the higher levels of skill - but all are still held to the standard of good sportsmanship. Kramnik shouldn’t get any leeway just because his temper is shorter than most. I
Kramnik losing his cool a bit is not unusual. It doesn't mean he thinks the result is unfair though. The emotion builds as the game enters the time scramble. What to do with the stored physical energy when the game ends? Some physical expression for the release of energy is usual enough.
What's happening to Kramnik? Always getting entangled with these issues. First "alleged cheating." Now the time control. He used to be so gracious. I hope this is just a phase, just like when he had a blundericious phase back in the 2000's, but bounced back big time. I hope Kramnik the champ returns.
I can understand Magnus, he is the best player, and so much pressure from people when he loses... But some players like Hikaru and Kramnik are really sore losers
Как шахматист, видимо, уже не тянет- решил заняться борьбой с шахматным злом- читерами!Владимир Борисович, вы достойно выйграли титул чемпиона мира в свое время, но проигрывать тоже надо достойно.
From what I understand, Kramnik feels that winning by using the clock is unsportsmanlike. If that’s the case, why do you participate in an Armageddon event?
@@ryanamburgy2791 If they bullied Kramnik as much as Phil , Kramnik would cry in the corner.Other players regularly targeting Phil for his reaction :D.
What's wrong with Kramnik? I really do think he should be examined by a psychiatrist. He's had the audacity to say Hikaru and Danya were both cheating at online tournaments. This is not me saying it, Hikaru spoke about it in his channel. I fear he's going through a similar process than Fischer. Hope I'm wrong. But it does look like something is wrong.
@@nicbentulan Hikaru cheated on the Candidates 2016??? What have you been smoking, my brother?? Fonseca is a kinda common Iberian name. My family has roots in Portugal, like many here in Brazil.
Flagging is part of the game. If you had better time management you wouldn’t have been in a bad position. So tired of players calling “bs” or complaining after losing on time. As if they never flagged others.
