Hi Nick, hope u are well...I have the class 1 license but very very little experience...any advice on how to overcome the nerves when starting out driving for the first time?
@@kieran3237 stop giving a shit what people think and if you’re holding them up! Switch off to them and concentrate on what you’re doing. You’ll learn quicker and get flustered less. Good luck. (Sorry for sticking my nose in. Just speaking from my own experience)
Great to see Hayley back amongst the gridlock with the rest of us. Seems like a more traditional Hayley vlog. But respect to you, 4yrs ago you were finishing your final term as a school teacher. Quite a reinvention in that time. 👏
People also need to consider that most driving jobs are long 12 shifts. I was working 4 on 2 off shift patterns so lots of weekends. I was doing LPG class 2 tankers but decided a life is more important that money. I now have a job that suits both my lifestyle and pocket.
Got my theory's tomorrow, I know it's presumptuous, but I feel very confident, and that's thanks to you and your videos. Congrats on all your success. Thank you.
I hayley hope you are well and not too hot.nice to see you driving again hope you are enjoying the weather don't forget your sun cream. Take care and keep enjoying life philip.
Wonderful to see you back on the road again Hayley. If I was a budding trucker I would be happy to follow your tuition videos. Very pleased that you are busy working in other aspects of trucking, making use of all of your hard won qualifications. Well done.
That’s great Haley, I’ve been thinking about taking my ADR for a while now. I’ve watched your videos for the past year and a half while learning and now driving class 1. Your reverse tutorials were so helpful. I’ll check out your website. 👍🏻
Hi Hayley, I am now in a tipper and loving it, no more double manning or sharing a truck. I am constantly surprising myself where I can get my 8 wheeler in too. When it comes to new drivers I really think they need to go the old route of class 2 first then class 1, this is what I am doing, saving up to do my class 1 now. Hope you have a good week out and about
Good to see you back on the road. As of the last two months I am also a Holiday relief driver! Oh how I laughed at your comment on rigid's at Northampton north services, first time in there three weeks ago and I managed to get the eight wheeler in the corner on your left, but dreadful place for truck parking there. Not had much time for watching You Tube as it was a shock for this old driver to get back to twelve hour days again, and there was me winding down towards retirement too!😉😂😂All the best Hayley.
Good to see you out on the road again . Got class 1 but settled on class 2 work as the jobs great and suits me. Agency I work for also saying the Christmas lull is still in play and work is defiantly in short supply . Not a driver shortage just a work shortage.
Thank you so much for your videos went for my first ever job interview driving a hgv and I got ...pass my full licence back here in Ireland about 5 months ago I am over the f****** moon keep those videos coming 🎉🎉🎉
Good to see you back on the road Hayley. I was doing a fortnights cover earlier in the month over by the estate K's is on. At least if you had gotten too hot at the steel place in Pensnett the hospital is only across the road 😄
Good to see you back on the Road Hayley. There's something funny about them isn't there. It's a very tough job but it's a great feeling to be in control of such a beast and the pride you get is rewarding.
I was very lucky to walk into an ADR job with decent(ish) hours and conditions straight from car to class 1. They even covered the ADR training costs and paid for my time studying. Although I did do 12 years on buses beforehand. In terms of my application I played to the strengths and qualities related to the job that indie have (timekeeping/management, customer service, lifestyle management and such like) whilst at the same time being very honest about the bits I had no experience in. I also did a bit of research into the company and roughly what they do from the depot I applied for, which was very well received by the interviewers. Long term I’d like to do a blended role much like yours Haley, with a bit of this and that (I know that’s simplifying it somewhat 😂) but I’m not sure about being a transport manager because of being responsible for others’ work. That being said I’d probably do both HGV and PSV sectors.
I recently passed my cat 1 and have the same issue regarding experience, but I've just been offered 7.5t work with a view to moving up to class 2/class 1. I've snapped it up as it's all experience. Its definitely the way to do it, even if it does mean extra low pay for a while.
Is there a Teleport link between Dudley and Milton Keynes, and you've been transporting them in one direction 😮😊😅. Great to see you working the wheel Hayley , congratulations on transport manager contacts 👏. Love the forward licence wind up 👍. Always busy on Pensnett Road, lovely green countryside views, great job and video. Thanks for sharing.
in my personal instance, i have been on hgv 1 bootcamp course since the end of Jan this year, i have done the 3 part of the dcpc, i am yet to do the mod4 (next month) and the actual driving starts the first week of august, unfortunately the training school in question took on too much without the means of delivering the volume of trainees, in my advantage is the local dwp are aware of the training schools short comings are being decent with me over the delays as its a dwp funded course, yes i am going from car to class 1 BUT i have held a license since 1989 points free for over 10 years ,and have off the road experience in shunting/hooking up class 1's but without the license i am snookered by things out of my control
Hello, thanks for the videos. With you not constantly driving now it would be good to have a video about how you manage your WTD and logging and if you are self employed working for K. For us part time drivers it seems a mind field with logging WTD and also being self employed doing it
I grew up in Milk 'n' Beans next time you go come off the M1 at J14. Robo-Nav wants you to use J15 because it might technically be a more direct route to the North West of the town. But trust me, J14 is a more driver friendly route; more motorway, less A road and you'll avoid going through Towcester too. 👍
Go red lion truckstop next time around there hayley .. much more plenty room, food options so much better.. just off the next junction (16) to Northampton services (15a) 👌
Hi I am taking my class 1 next week, funny thing is by trade have mechanic, and at the moment for the last year or so I am teaching kids to learn to drive and not just to pass there test, looking forward to it and then find a job, to gain experience not that I haven’t driven then before but I don’t think that will be taken into account but I am hoping that as a adi will be…..
Hayley have you ever used out of scope and when/why you use it as everyone has a different reason for using it and the law on it thanks hayley great videos
Hi Hayley,I've been watching and learning alot from you're vlogs..very helpful..I have my artic, HGV license but am so nervous to approach someone for a job...it's all so new.Any advice please?
please can you tell me what dash cam you use to get main view and yourself (rear view) all on the same screen.. im looking everywhere for one with no luck.. i would like to try the odd vlog myself.. you have inspired me! i was watching you prior and during my class 1 training.. thankyou for yr inspiration. ❤
Hi Hayley , you mentioned you do hgv driving instruction . Do you need to take formal training and tests to become a instructor ? I hold a class 1, and looking at the internet on one site also states you don't . I'm a little confused on that . Any advice would be appreciated . Keep up the good work 👍... Ps that steel works opposite Russell hall hospital , been there a few times myself 👍
just to let you know hayley a friend of mine who does occasionall video was instructed to move his go pro from windscreen in front of him as it can obstruct his view, they said stuck to door window was ok
I have a question I've been wanting to do this after I passed my HGV but I suffer with my reading and writing and thick as 2 planks is it hard to do ps i use speech text on google to wright this lol and how does it work as I am in Pontefract WF9 so won't be able to get to you also where would you take the exam xx
You say going from a car licence time class 1 many years ago was easier because of less traffic on the road what you forget a lot of trucks didn't have power steering, heaters that warmed the cab up, sleeper cabs, night heaters, air clutches, the big majority were manual gear boxes the list goes on there was hardly any bypasses for towns and cities most of three A roads were single track not dual carriageway, two lane motorways etc
i passed my cat c + e practical a couple weeks ago. went straigh from car (cat b) to cat c + e im really chuffed. I want a good paying job without crazy long hours. I like going to the gym often about 4 times a week. Any tips for me? thanks in advance. I'm from Croydon and i dont have a car so i need something local
"sausages" Performance anxiety I call it when I can't reverse with 60 people watching. Most of them are hoping for a crash so they can be the first to shout "you just took that lamp post down". It would be the highlight of their week and they will probably tell everyone they see for the next 4 months or until another story surfaces
Hi Hayley I’m glad I’ve found your page as I want to get into HGV driving, I’m thinking of going for the class 1 straight from car, is it possible to do that and then that covers me for the class 2 to maybe get a years experience before trying to get a class 1 job?
@@craig31jackson I went through a funding scheme called ‘ReAct’ because I was unemployed and under 24. The maximum funding was £1500 so could only afford the class 2 otherwise would have went with class 1. If you’re able to, I’d go straight for the class 1 license mate. It will open up more opportunities for you.
