Haven’t had a video of a Dennis in a while, so here’s some footage of #FN18100, this is 1 of 2 twin massive 35m Dennis units, that were brought in 2018 - the first 2 Dennis units that Citywide got for the Merri-bek contract, Both these units were initially planned to be used full-time on Recycling, #FN18101 is still getting around full-time on Recycle, while #FN18100 has seen most of its life a the spare unit, it was being used full-time Garbage for 5-8 months, but recently swapped runs with #FN20004, so now it is being used as a spare truck again.
We see Ryan at the helm, his truck was off the road with steering issues, leaving him to take this truck out, There is a public litter bin being collected which was cool to witness in person for the first time. Ryan was not at all a fan of this truck, complaining it was longer and harder to turn, many drivers have a lot of negative feedback on these 35ms, simply because of how big they are and hard to drive. During the night we experienced a storm with heavy rains and strong winds, resulting in many bins being blown over and rubbish spilled everywhere, which made for a tedious collection, with many stoppages to pick up bins & clean up spills.
I haven’t filmed this truck in a while, last time I got it was around Christmas in 2023 on Glass Recycling, So I was quite happy to get it on recycle, I would have liked a longer video, but time wasn’t on my side. Thanks to Ryan for letting me film.
